the station is definetly beautiful but it doesn't look Orii or Celestrial to me at all, sorry but its honesty. the modelling work is really truely amazing but it looks like he remade the federation starbase and shoved a cardassian like DS9 ring around the outside, thats why i said it could be a futuristic fed base or what the cardassians would do if they captured a federation starbase.
and i having issues converting models with max 5.1, with the 4.0 A2 exporter, it seems to ignore the self illumination map when i export so i'm desperately trying to get 4.0 so i can see if that fixes it
Hello:
The Citadel station has 4000 polies??, when I saw the pic, I thought it would have at least the double of poly-count . If you make the Celestial station Draconis, then it would be more than friendly for even very low-power PCs.
I hope you can fix your problem with the exporter Redmanmark .

Actually, I thought I might be shot on the spot just for introducing the Citadel at about 4,000 polys. I like low poly modeling, though it can be a bit challenging sometimes. I made the station fairly smooth on account of its size. I figure if I can barely see how many polygons there are in my model, most people won't know how many I used at a glance. It's a basic guideline I go by when I make a low poly model.

I only have 2 years experience with 3D modeling, but I've learned quite a bit in that time. Taking a 3D animation class helped too and also hooked me on 3DS Max, but for the most part I'm self taught. Little poly saving tricks I learned have helped a great deal when making models for Armada 2. You might not guess it, but each of those antennas are only 3 triangles/polygons a piece.

well i have only been modelling for about 4 months and i agree max is wicked, you can cheat quite alot in armada modelling thanks to your model not having to all be merged onto each other like in BC, but then for BC bollean and target weld are my best friends, lol
and yhea i can totally believe that they are just 3 triangles, cuz its far out no one will really notice it but if u zoomed in you will.
but still the model does look amazing, still stand by my federation starbase statement but each to their own
Hello:
I myself have a few time trying to moddeling for Armada2 (and Armada1 eventually), and I always been amazed by the work people like you DS can make. The Citadel is great and like I said "I thought it would have at least the double of poly-count", because it's very well done, my hope is to learn how to model something with that quality.

Reason: better grammar this time
That station looks great DS. Just like all of your work. Any idea when you will get her textured and in-game? It would be great to have this so we could make somemore ships off of.
Also, Lord_Trekie, ever think that it might be because of the lighting that your textures are lighter then what you want them to be? Just a thought.
