Deathstarmod installation Does anyone know how to install this into the game? I've moved all the files into their folders and added the build to the bconst.odf. But I don't know how and what to add to the gui_global.spr file. Can anyone help? Mahalo |
Re: Deathstarmod installation does it actually have the wireframe and buildbuttons in the first place? If it doesn't the you don't need to do anything to the gui_global.spr. |
Re: Deathstarmod installation It has things to add but I don't know where in the gui_global.spr file to add to. And I guess I don't know what construction ship to add it to either. I just need as much help as I can get. I haven't a clue how to do this. I can only follow specific instructions. HELP!! |
Re: Deathstarmod installation Can you give a link to where you found the mod? if not can you zip the files for the mod and attach them to your next post? |
Re: Deathstarmod installation Here is the link. http://armada2.filefront.com/files/A...ions/Other;842 its the DeathStar (1.1) download |
Re: Deathstarmod installation you need to add "b_dstar gbdstar 0 0 64 64" below the "# Borg build buttons" and right below this line "@reference=64" to get the buildbutton here is what it would look like: # Borg build buttons @reference=128 b_borpod1 gbbpod100 0 0 64 64 b_borpod2 gbbpod100 64 0 64 64 b_borpod4 gbbpod100 64 64 64 64 b_borpod5 gbbpod200 0 0 64 64 b_borpod6 gbbpod200 64 0 64 64 b_borpod7 gbbpod200 64 64 64 64 b_borpod8 gbbpod200 0 64 64 64 @reference=64 b_dstarw1 gbdstar 0 0 64 64 #Capture the Flag ships Unfortunalty there is no wireframe however you can use the bulid button as a "wireframe" if you want something there instead of a blank space. scroll down until you see "# Borg wireframes", at the bottom of the Borg Wireframes just before you see "#capturetheflagships" add the line "@reference=64" then below that add the line "dstarw1 gbdstar 0 0 64 64" That should get you a buildbutton ingame and also the buildbutton as a "wireframe" Heres what that should look like # Borg wireframes @reference=256 bbattle1w1 borgwireframe01 0 0 48 48 bbattle1w2 borgwireframe01 48 0 48 48 bbattle1w3 borgwireframe01 96 0 48 48 bbattle1w4 borgwireframe01 144 0 48 48 bbattle1w5 borgwireframe01 192 0 48 48 ... @reference=64 dstar gbdstar 0 0 64 64 |
Re: Deathstarmod installation Thanks for the help. However, I don't find #capturetheflagships in the gui_global.spr file. |
Re: Deathstarmod installation should have been below the Borg Wireframes and have had something like this: ctf_bbattlew1 ... ctf_bbattlew2 ... ... Add it below the "//Borg build buttons" and make sure you add "@reference=64" above it. |
Re: Deathstarmod installation Ok, I added it in but the construction ship still doesn't give that construction feature. |
Re: Deathstarmod installation ok to add it to the Borg const ship (you want it in borg right...) open up bconsts.odf in the odf/ships folder. scroll down to where it says buildItem0 = "b..." buildItem1 = "b..." ... buildItem11 = "b..." (I think buildItem11 is the last entry for an unmodded version of armada 2...) below that line or whereever there is an open spot, add this" buildItemX = "dstar" that should let you build it in game... |
Re: Deathstarmod installation Ok, I've put it in the bconst.odf file as buildItem13 = "dstar" but it still doesn't function in game... no button to build shows up. |
Re: Deathstarmod installation Does the blank space appear at all (spot where button should be?). Also did you add the Death Star to your techtree yet? If not opem tech1.tt with notepad, and anywhere add the line: dstar.odf 0 If you didn't add it to the techtree this should be the last step. |
Re: Deathstarmod installation Ok, I got it into the game. I added it to the techtree and installed it in the correct construction ship. However, alot of work for naught. The Deathstar construction has no textures and when it completes, it crashes the game. |
Re: Deathstarmod installation Ok, new plan. There is a mod called Star Wars Fleet Command, I think it comes with a Death Star, it's just not added to a construction ship. just so you know, Fleet Command is made to mod the demo, so if you don't want to lose your current install, or have the space to install the demo then you should try that. |
Re: Deathstarmod installation hahaha... I'm installing into that mod. It doesn't have a constructable DeathStar. |
Re: Deathstarmod installation Check the odf file, there may be weapons in the file that are not in your game which causes it to crash. |
Re: Deathstarmod installation Wow, I forgot completely about the fact the odf may mave waepons you don't have... Try what Majest said first that may fix the problem. Also I said that Fleet Command may come with a Death Star, I know it isn't "installed" though, that would have to be done yourself. My point was though that it may/should be as simple as adding it to the construction ship. |
Hmm... maybe I need to start over. Edit: Ok, I reinstalled Star Wars: Fleet Command and the update. I installed the construction button for the Deathstar and added it to the tech1.tt file. Incidentally, I had to put it in iconst2.odf. I had to change the dstar.odf from station to craft and I was all good to go. However, now the construction ship can't build it because it is way to big and it can't go out of the bounds to build it. Now what do I do? |
Re: Deathstarmod installation You can shrink the Deathstar by using the scaleSOD=X.X command in the dstar.odf, if there already is a line for scaleSOD, then try halving that number, it there is no scaleSOD line, add it at the bottom of the odf like so.. scaleSOD = 0.5 that should help, if it still is too big, try 1/4 size... |
Re: Deathstarmod installation The scale is at 0.3 and its still way too big. |
Re: Deathstarmod installation well, keep scaling down until it gets to a managable size... try 0.05... |
Re: Deathstarmod installation Ok, got the sale down to 0.001 and its still too big. |
Re: Deathstarmod installation open the file and shrink the model that way |
Ok, I think the model is way too big. I've tried to shrink it to 0.001 and its still too big. Edit: Ok, I give up. If someone figures this out, please let me know. |
Re: Deathstarmod installation Well, all I can say is to try to keep scaling it down... is it changing size at all? I never liked the Death Star in a mod so I never bothered with it... |
Re: Deathstarmod installation As far as I know, that mod comes at a normal size (roughly the scale of the Fed starbase). Not sure I understand, but it sounds like you might have a problem with the changes you mention in post #18. The "Footprint" might be your problem. Or changing it to a craft... was that an odf edit? |
Re: Deathstarmod installation I have no clue. I'm learning slowly. I did change it from station to craft though. |
Re: Deathstarmod installation By odf edit, I mean did you edit an .odf file with a text editing program? |
Re: Deathstarmod installation Yes, I been editing an odf file... dstar.odf to be exact. |
Re: Deathstarmod installation Check the scaleSod command using "Find" (ctrl-F). You may have another instance in the file making your ship too big. Also, try changing it back to a station, if that's how it was to start. See if that fixes your prob. Editing odfs can be tricky until you learn what to look for. Keep at it. |
