Default Usiing Blender Models

I was wondering if there is anyway to use Blender to make models for a modification? Seeing to the fact that I downloaded Milkshake, and by the time I learned how to use it, the trial went out.

I already know how to use Blender, but when I try to save a mesh as a .SOD, it just puts that as part of the name.

ex.
example.sod.blend

I was working on a ship in Blender for a while, and now that I finnished it, I would really like to use it. But I can't think of anyway to make it an SOD file.

Blender is a free 3D editing program, and the main site is http://www.blender.org/cms/Home.2.0.html for those who don't know.

Thanks in advance.

For any modelling utility you need an exporter to export to the correct format. Even MAX format saved models (3dmax' own format), is a plugin to save/export to the MAX format. If there is no SOD exporter for blender then you have little to no hope (unless someone you know can create one). The only other way is to find someone who has either ms3d or 3dmax and is willing to convert for you.

well blender has the option to export. It's just there is not a .sod format in the list. I see a lot of them for example,

.3ds, .low, .obj.

I looked for .3ds to .sod converters, but I coudn't find any using google.

Any chance if I export the model to .3ds, and use a converter to convert it to .sod, would that work? If so, can you tell me where I can find the converter?

You will be highly unlikely find an actual 3ds to SOD converter as you need to set up the hardpoint hierarchy (each model has a different layout). The only alternative is to do as I suggested.

Didn't Assimsoft have some sort of old hardpoint editor program that you could do use some generic file types in? Assimview or something?

Well I'll google it and see if I find anything. Are you sure that it was assimsoft?

Well it would really help because I don't have 4000 dollars for 3d studio max, and I don't have the money for Milkshake either, seeing as I am only 15.

It would really help if you could give me a little more information on that hardpoint editor. Like can you save it as an SOD?

You can google it just as easily as I can (actually probably easier, it is pretty hard for me to do anything on the web with the connection I have).

I really recommend going ahead an buying MilkShape. If you are into modding enough that you want to mess with the hard points, once you achieve that, you will want to go further. Save up your allowance, skip a few movies, ask for it for your birthday, mow a few lawns. It will be well worth it. $30.00 is less then one cellphone bill, about one tank of gas, even less then 3 pizzas. You can buy two MilkShape licenses for the price of most popular brands of jeans. If it is important enough, I am sure you can find find another area to tighten up financially.

Well I have to say this, I suck at Milkshake, and I am pretty good in Blender. To tell you the truth, Milkshake dosen't have that many features from the trial version I tried. It took me a long time to make a simple model to learn how to use it.

It would just be a lot easier on me if I could use blender, and I might with that assimsoft.
