Star trek: Alpha and Omega Hey everyone... im planning a new mod to cover up to two areas which i think is consistantly lacking any modding, pre-TNG era, and, though this has started to rapidly improve, the future after nemisis, (note alpha and omega, the begining and the end). I also couldnt really think of a better name, but its given me the idea to include the omega particle, and the temperal cold war that some how involves Section 31 :p... I have good listings of pre-TNG ships from multiple sources, some canon, some not. Either way, being quite a nooby modder, i need serious help, these are the features im planning: - 2 distinct time frames, past and future - Federation, Borg, Klingon, Romulan will all feature, other races are possible, however, im unsure as to how to upgrade/update some ships, and include pre-tng ships for others, thats if the race has even been discovered at the time period - NO SPECIES 8472!!! - Fighters, carriers, more useful science ships, more specialised role ships, hero ships - A completely Neutral race, many possibilitys for usefulness, Ferengi may be replaced by orion pirates with neutral bases - Better resourcing system - More and better upgrading on stations and planets, perhaps different constructors for different jobs (orbital con. ship, base con. ship, defense con. ship, etc) - Multiple tech tree choices... either through researching certain things, playing as a different commander, etc - Better special weapons! - A new race? Or a race seen in the series, but not in a mod? - Perhaps featuring the Terran empire from the mirror universe - A better story than A1 and A2, but still interlinking I have other ideas, but id like to see some interest in what ive got before i get ahead of myself, if you cant help make the mod, submit ideas! Thanks all By the way.. i've just noticed an alpha/omega mod for A1, so i really need a different name too, so perhaps a new name could be used, however, the mod is dead... so... hmm, ill ask just incase anyways |
Re: Star trek: Alpha and Omega How about for a name :- Cause and Effect ? Why dont you have a story around the unsung heros of these time frames, the ships you dont hear about but play a part in the star trek universe, this would allow you to link in with A1 & A2 while telling a whole new story through the missions, and allow you take your mod in totally new directions (without beung bound to cannon), you could tie in the temporal cold war as the reason not much has happend between "Encounter at Farpoint" and "Nemisis". Below is basic plot outline for you (based over a 10 mission campaign:- Enterprise No More :- Help secure the klingon colony that has just been attacked by the romulans and resulted in the destruction of NCC 1701-C and take the system for the Klingons. (NB - this sets your time frame for you) Stargazers :- Expand the federation into new areas of space and build on the new trust with Klingon empire, drive the romulans away and meet races like the cardasians and ferengi (NB - you could have a hero ship in this mission of the USS Stargazer) Into the Void :- Upon reaching the new area of space to explore the USS Stargazer encounters a manevolant alien race, could they the builders of the Doomsday Machine or even V'Ger .......... (NB - intoduce the Briar patch and Omega particle in this mission) can you see how this building up ???? then after nemisis you can have this force coming back and Cpt Picard being sent to deal with them on the USS Enterprise E. Anyway thats just an idea, hope it helps |

Re: Star trek: Alpha and Omega This actually seems like quite a nice concept. Everyone (or at least most people) who create MOD's simply feature them in TNG or thereafter. It's nice to see a MOD that is going into back in time for once ;) |
Re: Star trek: Alpha and Omega Thanks SupaStarAsh, and to paulhanselluk, i like both the name you've suggested, and "into the void"... the idea that not only is everything tied into perhaps a single event or set of events over a long time is good, but you've given me the idea to include that some amazing superpower is watching and plotting, well thats great, now i gotta figure out who it is though... i'll post a short story in a bit to set the scene. Anyways though, this mod cant start without help! so anyone with any experience, or anyone willing to learn, please post, scroll up to the first post to check my ideas and if you like them, then come help! I myself am in 3 groups and making one personal mod, and as such very little time to help others, plus I am learning to model and running a website so my time is limited. But I will defentally be keeping an eye on this mod mate. ;) |

Re: Star trek: Alpha and Omega Hi everyone, Thanks for your input, W15 and majest, yea i know everyones involved, ive been working on a mod called Dark conspiracys (this is one my own that im working on on my own, it basically turns ships (mostly the feds) into more 'classis human ships' (think human ships from BSG, babylon 5, Warhammer 40K/Battlefleet gothic, Ands quite alot of influence from Halo UNSC ships), rather the slightly uncomtempary ships that feds use. (its just something for me to mess around with, put i might release it once ive got some friends to playtest it, and finished some other stuff, maybe changing the non-human sides, lol) However, i have also been looking into the resources i have for this mod, whilst the future era has unlimited potentual, as there are alot of cannon ships, and you can pretty much invent ships, the past era doesnt have the same luxury, i am considering doing ships from the pre-TOS era, and then you can update them when you've researched the right stuff, i am also thinking of introducing a special resource that allows you to access special technology and ships from section 13, or the alien equivalent if you're playing as another race. Anyways, onto the ship lists for the past era for the feds (sorry for the spelling): Daudlus Constellation Lexus Federation Miranda Excelious Miranda Ambassador Advanced prototype? This is a VERY short list, these are only a few cannon ones, ive got alot of fan made stuff (mostly drawings, i aint gonna rip anyone off unless i really love the model - So someone will probably get a request from me soon, theres some amazing ones, and i couldnt mod that good :p), the ship list will probably get about 5 times bigger, this also moves me nicely along to the next topic. Whilst i have had few offers for people to help modding, you can all help with this, i need someone (probably one person each for the rommys and klingons) that could find out some information out about them (and more specifically, their ships!) around the TOS era, a little earlier, and a little later, picture would be helpful as ive got to model them! (as you can guess, i'm good with fed related stuff, but though i like the ships, i dont always agree with their policys.. go on the offensive once in a while! Conquer someone! hmm...
