on install armada2.exe gets renamed and a loader gets on it's place. the loader runs the renamed armada2 executable and patches it loaded in memory. also i have to provide a modified networkmanager.dll to allow vista users to get multiplayer going.
in short: modifies game executables
otherwise, the patch does what it says in the post

No, it isn't. The first releases of Patch 1.2 are intended for bug fixing only. Later version will feature full widescreen support and new enhancements for mod developers.

NO-CD patches ARE legal in the US IF and ONLY IF you own the program legitimately, and can prove it if you get arrested/sued. such as having an original copy of the CD or other proof of purchase.

You're also allowed to make copies of the disc if you have the original and it's only for backup. The thing is we have absolutely no way of making sure it's legal and to be honest, I don't want Activision/Mad Doc knocking on our door because of something I allowed on the site. At the moment, we're erring on the side of caution.

There may be a delay on this due to reasons mentioned by Joel above. He wishes to find out a bit more about it. He is the Site Admin, thus he gets to make that choice.
