Subspace chatter, is it possible? Help us if you can.

I just had the greatest idea! I should create subspace chatter for my mod. Now I just need to figure out how to get the sounds to play at random and a few new .wav files of people talking to other ships.

I could even have the screams of people when a ship explodes; hmm... sounds a little gruesome. Oh well, I was just thinking about a picture I added to the armada2files PoTD; I was thinking of a title and I figured, hey, that would be perfect if I could get someone on the ships to actually say: BRACE FOR IMPACT!

Wouldnt you just need to edit the .wav file that plays when the ship is destroyed? i.e edit screams over the explosion sound.

and as for the sub-space chatter you could edit the event files for the missions and change the .wav of whatever is said when, say a special unit enters the area (caddobastan) to 'subspace chatter'.

It probably won't work but its just an idea, hope it helps.

that's not exactly what I was looking for. I need sounds that occur when they are under fire or docking or whatever actions you can think of, but for multiplayer and instant action.

Voices such as: "Help me! I don't want to die!" Is a good one or "Fill'er up" is good too.

When they are winning they might say, "I think we've gott'em" or reporting that "Shields at 50%"

Just stuff like that. It would make the game more entertaining.

You could try editing the file...
events.dat

You can find it in your Armada 2 dir.
You can open it in notepad.

What you need to do is make your own .wav files and then add them to the events file. That should do it becuase I myself have done something like subspace chatter and it works allright for me, except for my borg sounds. Somehow when they encounter an unasimmalated species, I set it up to say things like We Are The Borg or Resistance is futile, but it plays backwards so it sounds very strange. gotta fix that
