I would say so. The BCS system is too complicated up for my preferences.

The BCS is fault-ridden, as was its predecessors as will any sort of potential playoff system... but a playoff system would be a lot more entertaining.

I don't particularly like the ranking systems either, the BCS selection process or the entire Heisman Trophy selection process (stinks of favouritism to the more popular teams). Still, I hunker down and watch it anyway, takes my mind off being a Cleveland Browns fan and the disappointment I feel every Sunday.

Haha, fellow Browns fan? I didn't think there were any left. This weekend I saw more Steelers and Packers jerseys than Browns jerseys...in Cleveland!

Ah well. I still have Ohio State.

Yes, the BCS system is flawed and no there should not be a playoff for college football. These are suppose to be students, not money makers for their schools. If you are going to vote for a playoff system, then you have to pay these kids for playing this sport. It seems to be all for your amusement, so pay them for it, or just win your division and let that be the end of it.

That's a fact, my friend.

I wonder if I still have that old Michigan shirt...my roommate and I used it in place of a floor mat last year.

You're right, they are students, but the lower division of football the FCS (formerly division 1-AA) has a playoff system that works, so why not the FBS? College basketball has March Madness. Also, many schools make a lot of money from their sports teams, football is a big earner in terms of ticket sales, merchandise sales and bowl game invitations. Should players be paid? No. Many of them are going to school for free on athletic scholarships, that's a privilege that many don't get to share.

It's hard being a Browns fan, year after year of suck. I don't like Derek Anderson at all, but I definitely hate the offensive coordinator even more, he's terrible.

Ohio State.... Sorry, but I'm a Notre Dame fan, grew up watching them and my next favourite team is probably the Crimson Tide of Alabama, but I don't mind the Buckeyes at all. But, we can all hate on the Wolverines and USC Trojans if you're upset that they beat the Buckeyes again.

I don't necessarily disagree with you, but I've heard many others say that players feel they should get a "piece of the pie", too - the coaches and athletic programs cash in on millions, and the players feel exploited. That said, paying the players might work OK for big football schools like Florida and Texas, but when you take into account some of these other, much smaller FBS schools with much lower average attendance, paying the players isn't going to be as easy, especially if the school is young and trying to build their program.

If you ask me, I've always thought a D-I FBS playoff would be great. You could still have the big corporate-sponsored by-invitation bowls, but then a certain number of teams, decided by committee, would enter into a playoff. If in fact some players are feeling "exploited", the playoff system could potentially cut down on that because now you've got players that really feel like they're playing for something, rather than just some big money bowl, and there's the real feeling that anybody from that field could win a national championship.

Beautiful! Hopefully it still has some mud (and maybe even some dog doo) caked on it

Yeah...the Browns have an annoying and self-destructive habit of investing in individual good players every year (Brady Quinn, for example), but they seem to forget that you still need the rest of the team to be good.

Notre Dame are legit. And as long as we can both hate on Michigan and USC, then I guess that makes us friends.

Actually, I'm pretty sure my roommate threw it out some time over the summer. It was fun to abuse, but after a while it became a sanitation liability. Seriously, that shirt/floormat got all the shoe mud wiped on it over the course of the year, and was puked upon on multiple occasions; the trash can in our room was right next to it.
