To be honest, though, the real reason they changed her name is unknown. I heard that it was a copyright thing, or that the original voice of Derpy didn't want to keep the name as she had a disabled son. Either way, the SJW bitching didn't end up getting changed, but it pissed off a ton of MLP fans to the point where the most vocal protestor of Derpy's name was showered in hate mail and death threats after the retcon.

It's all horse drama in the end. You should see the shitstorm that erupted over a popular horny Princess Celestia blog. Zero porn, but that wouldn't stop feminazis from declaring it the most offensive thing on the planet due to it promoting their fictitious "rape culture."
