When I get banned... ... I want my profile to express the fact that I have no regrets. Why might I get banned? I dunno, but it may happen, so I want to be prepared by posting this thread with what I want. |

Re: When I get banned... There are worse fates than a ban. For example, it's a popular misconception that jeff&eddie has gone. But actually he was hired, and instead of being banned some users are restricted to posting on a private forum which only jeff&eddie can respond to. He is the only company they can ever have, for eternity. I think y2ktm2 was consigned to this fate. |

Re: When I get banned... But you wouldn't have known it either. You'd get timeouts and errors and you'd just think the forums were having technical issues. We used to have a fun stealth banning system in place in the old days. Installed by none other than myself. It was great! to clarify: the system worked off the users IP, and it would then simulate database errors, timeouts, etc, so the user was banned, but he/she thought the forums were just having issues of some sort. we used it to get rid of popular users who were trouble makers (who deserved a ban) this way their 'following' didn't rebel because technically they didn't know. Clever eh? Oh we were all about the clever and fun back then. ;) |

You weren't supposed to INSERT the ban stick. =p Tachy Goes to Coventry is a fun vB3 feature that I think is sadly underused, however. Not quite as cool as your old fake forum meltdown plugin, but almost as good. It lets users continue to post, but their posts are hidden from every other user, afaik, effectively banning them but without them noticing it. The thing I liked most about Crash was those podcasts that we had for a while. They were fairly fun listening. There was more demand for that sort of thing back then, mind. |

I don't remember the podcasts but I recall the huge staff meeting with merimeke (can't remember how to spell his name). It ended up being a pretty big thing and AzH and I disagreed with him (I don't remember the situation surrounding that) eventually getting him removed from his position which I then replaced. That was how I got my bump to SA. Good times! haha |

Actually, I can safely say I have never, ever been banned. Except by y2ktm2 as Mr. Matt alluded too. But that's a long story. |
