Mm. Well, I think that the way people meet can vary, not just because of the circumstances but also because of the people themselves, I myself am a very quiet person - I barely talk at all, unless I'm with friends, therefore, I really have no clue how I have the friends in the first place, I can't even understand how such a quiet person could have possibly gained such love and trust from people.
I found that just being myself seemed to work somehow, and I've ended up knowing pretty well the entire 10th grade aswell as some grade 12's and 13's.
As for conversing, I guess good listening skills are in order, and you'd need to think about what you'd say as a response to so that you wouldn't say the wrong thing... But then again, I guess it really does just come down to who you are, there's bound to be people out there for you to meet.
