Be warned though, it does emitt a really strong smell, an odor you can call it. that for the untrained nose could be considered as aweful and disgusting, if you've got a cold, then it shouldn't be a problem. otherwise, you untrained foreigners would probably not want to be in the same house where Surströmming is eaten.

Yes, often aqvavit is drunk, or even required, maybe even some snaps, O.P. Anderson etc.
I've never been a real fan of gravad lax, I'm more fond of rökt lax (smoked salmon)

No we should not! We aren't the criminals, in the 18th century we sent all the criminals to Finland!
you wish you had those territories back don't you? remember how close you were to control all of sweden when you had stockholm? well Gustav Vasa saved us from Christian the Tyrant and then we pushed you back!

hey! we're not as drunk as you danes! at least not if we should follow the sweden sterotype of a dane. He is a big round bald man with a tuborg in his hand, and he speaks just as if he had porridge in his mouth.
of course, he's a bit drunk as well, and they always drink tuborg or other beer.
(well, not a very serious stereotype, but anyway...)

I would guess that a dane has won Vasa Loppet sometime, but I'm not very interested in skiing at all (believe it or not, I'm from sweden nonetheless). I'm more of the ordinary football person.

BTW, Tedacious, it is certainly fine to toast a sandwich after preparing it, particularly if it has cheese; but most folks usually build a sandwich "cold". So baked sandwiches, Surströmming and aquavit for everyone!

Is Surströmming like Norwegian lutefisk (dried fish combined with lye )?
