I just looked it up, did some research. No. MesDiscussions does not support plug-ins, it does not allow for custom BB codes, like this:
Spoiler:
Nope, it doesn't have this
Also, it has no calender, and it appears to only support French as it language.
By far, vB is the most comprehensive, most reliable forum software out there. The modding community for it is next to none- in a class by itself. Pound for pound, there really is no comparison to vB.
I looked at it too, and it seems that there's also no spam bot protection, which would be REALLY bad for a site like this. Also, there's no file attachments, which is something I'm sure too many people are used to for them to just give it up. I'd say the reason it uses up less resources is it just has less features users would want. Personally, my only problem with vBulletin is that it only supports MySQL and I can't afford it.

- It does have spoiler, just works a different way. You mean it's a customization and spoilers don't even exist in basic vB ? Damn :/
- It does support english language.
- Who needs a calendar ? ^^ That's a forum...
- If it has no modding community or add-ons, that may be because it doesn't need any
And for what is about reliability, how about those lots of post jumps we had lately ?
Oh and yes, there are spam protections. You can't post more than a certain number of replies in a certain number of threads in a certain time, etc... We use it at forum.judgehype.com (sorry people, it's all in french there ^^ ) and never really had problems with spambots.
For what is about attachments, well people are given a limited (admin defined) room for uploading pictures ; and for the rest that will teach them to use the lots of free webhosting services out there instead of consuming more disk space than necessary on the forums themselves.

With almost 160,000 members? With close to 3.4 million posts? I doubt it. It takes incredible MySQL resources to run this forum, regardless of the forum software.
You want to play it like that, Imageshack? Fine! No signature at all, then!

508084 members, 38295487 posts at the moment. 1 server as far as I know. often around 2000 users online (well, it's around 5 am at the moment in France, so they are only around 230 for now).
Hmm in fact no, it has 2 servers. But I guess for 160000 users "only" and 10 times less posts, 1 would be quite enough.
