The Green Fairy

I have a headache.

Damn absinthe.

I had 4 shots straight, just the cheap stuff (only 75% alcohol). And then a couple diluted with water. I love and hate that drink.

Honestly, once you've had this, you'll regret ever drinking any lesser alcohol.

I've had that and as a matter of fact, I will be having some in about 20 min.
...Oh you mean the alcohol? never heard of it.
Is it hard stuff? I don't drink hard stuff.

Re: The Green Fairy

It's been banned in the US since like 1915. It's an old mix of very high alcohol (I've tried 75%, 85%, and 95% ones) and a vaguely hallogenic chemical. It doesn't get you drunk like normal alcohol does. It's a completely different dimension of drunk.

Re: The Green Fairy

is it expensive?

masked_marsoe October 20th, 2006 08:55 AM

Re: The Green Fairy

About 25euro for a 500ml at 75% alcohol bottle. Of course, it's the alcoholic equivalent of more than 60 beers, so you can't complain there. Plus, one bottle will last a person several nights. ;)

Re: The Green Fairy

It is sold in North America again, but I think they've taken the good stuff out of it to make it legal.

Re: The Green Fairy

Yup. Canada sells the real stuff in some states, but the US only allows the thujone-free stuff.

Yea, banned in my province...

It was brewed (or whatever the verb) in lead containers... That's why it was hallucinogen.

(what I heard)

Re: The Green Fairy

Wasn't there a french poet that drank that stuff while writting his poems?

He is also that one that wrote a poem on the belly of a prostitute.

Baudelaire?

Yup...Charles Baudelaire

I read that Vincent van Gogh drank that stuff too.

You can buy a kit and make that stuff at home if you like.

A lot of those artists did.
Toulouse-Lautrec, Edgar Allen Poe, Degas, Picasso, Manet, and so forth.
They say it's like getting drunk but being able to rise above the unclear head; to think deeper or some shit.

They sell the stuff here too. I've only tried the 80%, mixed. Going for pure on my next birthday party. Or a sooner "big event".

Re: The Green Fairy

Yeah, aparently, Vincent Van Gogh was on it when he chopped off his ear and sent it to his girlfriend.

That's pretty accurate.
