The answer is glaringly obvious. Man is a predator, as such, he dreams of horrific blood and gore. As current laws and "moral codes" prevent us from massacuring each other (hear that, keep the crap away from me), so we do the next best thing we watch it, point and lauch instead . . . and it's just really friggin' cool . . . you saying you wouldn't want to see a moose maul someone?
