Even at $399 most people would say that the PS3 is a complete RIP OFF!!! Does anyone know when the price is going to go down to maybe $199? I think that's reasonable. What do you think?

im going to have to agree with Giz. Its just the next gen systems cost so much more to produce that the last ones, and don't bring up the will cus its just last gen with motion control

Sony has lost so much money from the PS3, there's no way in hell it'll go down any time soon, especially this early.

i noticed that there are so many sony haters on this forums that they have gotten abundance enough to make outrages claim lately, all i would like to see is some prof as we know the 360 has cost Microsoft at least 1 billion dollars

I got mine for a clean $600. I traded in my old PS2 and twenty or so games for $200 worth of trade-ins, and it's worth every penny.

If the PS3 is a rip off at $399, what does that make the 360?? Gold-plated dog shit?

Sony apparently just managed to cut production costs in half. They probably won't drop the prices any more some time to recoup any losses. I could only see them dropping prices if Microsoft does so to make up for the poor line-up of releases this year on the 360.

You must be a real gaming addict to pay $600 for a PS3. Either that or you have a really high paying job or come from a rich family.

They are down to 400 already. I disagree anyone young and with money that wants to buy something ,has no real needs of money to support anything such as a family , car, girl friend can buy a PS3 without question. Not very responsbile but as long as money in the bank and mother and father pay for college and everything else why not buy what you want ?

did you read what he said? he talked about how he subtracted $200 off the price in trade-in's which is what i did to, but i waited for the 60GB model to drop to $500 before hand. Besides anyone with a minimum wage job could earn $600 in 2 weeks if they had a full time job. Obviously thats without expenses, but older people with expenses ore obviously making higher incomes.

now think about this if you were to get the cheaper $400 model, most people already have a ps2 and abundance of games. for me to knock $200 of that was the system 2 controllers and 14 games. so thats now a $200 system. under minimum wage you could make that in 27.5 hrs, or 3.5 days.

I am never ever going to need 80 gigs for my system. That is just silly. I want it to play a few games and watch films, that is all. 40 Gigs is enough for me man. What cant you do with 40 gigs that you can 80?

So I will be getting the 400 dollar system.

High-paying job? I bought it while I was unemployed last summer. I simply take care of my finances.
Rich family? Nope.
Gaming addict? Partially at best.
I traded my PS2 and 2 dozen games in at EB and received $200 or so off of the total as a result, but they did rip me off when it came to trading in the games, but it was not like I was planning on playing them anymore, no use in them sitting around gathering dust.

Not sure but i think the ps2 was about the same price when it was first released.. So if you want a cheap ps3 you got to wait for the ps4 to come out :rofl:Or buy a used one if you can find one...

i went to a gamestop today and asked if they had any 80 gb models the women said they discontinued them and now only the 40 gb model is available anyone else know about this

No, Sony's phasing out the 80gb model in favour of the 40gb due to the latter's better sales performance (and cheaper production costs I think). I know the 40gb doesn't have backwards compatability, but we're not really buying next-generation consoles to play the last-generation's games, though it is a nice feature.

Blu-ray player plus an gaming console at 400 USD, is not a bad price, considering you can get a 360 at 300, with no player, or HD output.

The Assasins Creed is a overhyped game i think. it was not even close as good as I tought it was but still fun (the jumping and stuff). BUt it gets repetitive after the two firts missions.
