Default SOF2: Geforce 6 detected as Geforce 1

Hi all, bought this game today and after trying to play with terrible performance I had a look through the options and saw my card was being listed as Gefore 1. I guess my card is too new for this game, I have a GF 6600GT

Is there any way of fixing this problem?

Cheers

I have the detonator 66.93's which are about as recent as you can get, and which work with Doom 3, Half life 2 etc

This very problem was disucussed 9 posts down from here.

However that post was closed down.
Two items mentioned there were these:

Had to remove old ATI drivers on safe mode wirh driver cleaner.

Actually i removed ATI drivers from control panel, restarted, used driver cleaner, switched cards, installed nVidia's drivers. So i wasn't popinthecardandinstalldriver kind of person? I just didn't know that Windows File Protection won't let me remove old (ATI's) drivers and it didn't say that either. Later i found out, that I should use driver cleaner in safe mode.

Maybe of help to you ??

if your previous card was a geforce 1 ...and you DIDN'T delete the sof2mp.cfg, then of course it is. It needs to create a new cfg to be introduced to the new card. DELETE all your sof2mp.cfgs ...restart the game ...and you will notice that the line that has to deal with last known renderer is your new card.

So me thinks from this he has put the game on his sytem with the card already installed ? Hence the game would find the card ??

Then again we must never assume anything

I never assume anything but from that point ...good one ...
could be his mobo is too old for the card and needs to update the bios for that.

Just like to point out that hardware wise I'm pretty up to date, half life 2 and Doom 3 run pretty well

Anyone else using a gefore 6 series to play this game?
