Default Sick of PK3 files

Hey, So apparently there is some pk3 file that i keep aquiring from one or different servers that inhibits me from picking up the talon gun and causing my game to freeze, so i end up have to go into my sof2 folder and deleting all my pk3 files (even the good ones) so i have to re-download the ones i need to play when i go back in. Quite frankly i am so sick of auto-downloading and "advanced playing", why cant we just use the basics and play the game with out all these, mostly clan, sup-ed up gameplay options.
Anyway i am done venting, does anyone else have this problem and do you know which pk3 if it is a pk3 causes this and how can i prevent it from happening again?
thanks

Turn off Allow Download. From your options screen.

Get the files you need from www.sof2files.com its quicker than dl them from the server.

The pk3 is probably a skin, thats causing the problems, there are quite a few around so it could any of them really

I am so glad you have asked this question !
I have exactly the same problem you have.
It annoys the hell out me. And I have had this problem
on 2 different computers running sof2.
It sucks, because I still have this problem.
But it only occurs on certain servers, and then on some others it is fine.
Its kind of like hit and miss.
Do you experience this on all servers ????
Sure would like a fix for this......

ive had this problem b4 but it wasnt with skins it was a bug on the server witch made the tallon have 0 ammo and made ur hands stick up and on some ppl when they got the tallon it would boot them from server and lock up the game.... thats prolly why old school only had the problem on some servers

Yeah basically what i do is delete all the pk3 files that i know aren't needed and go back into the server and see if that worked, and if i can pick up the talon now then i didn't something good, if not then i go and delete more. I wish i could pin point the exact cause though so i dont delete files that don't need to be removed. Thanks for your replies.

Don't delete them, remove them and save somewhere else.

Then try the game see if it works? If so put the files back in your MP folder one at a time and try the game, you will find out which is the currupt pk3. This will take some time if you have loads of files, however it will be worth it.

Have fun

I run an Server and some players got this problem in an specific map mp_jor1 only. Soon they jump on the table to pickup the taloon they froze. You see them as an player standing behind it, that they float above the table with an ping off 999. However, not all had that problem and for the one who could pick it up, they got their ammo as well. I had never this problem while I had all server files.

I guess this is really an client sided problem.
For the one who find out witch file/mod couses this problem, it would be nice to post the specific junk-file so we can eliminate this problem.

But sofar, in mine case, it was an client sided problem.

Try starting with this file:

osp-clientside-0.3m.pk3

Remove that one first, and see if its any better.
