You can't please everyone but....

First off let me thank the staff and contributors for all the useful tips and advice I have received in the past from these forums. They have been most helpful with all problems I have had. (The ones I admitted to anyway:) )

I don't think that I have ever played a single game in sof2 mp where no-one has complained about something or other.
In these forums I have read a lot about "noob guns" etc. and how a lot of people are generally displeased with the way in which they are coveted by (ahem), less scrupulous players and thought it may be nice to try to resolve the issue.... on my server at least. I should say that I personally am not particularly enamoured with the rpg or the mm1 and got rid of them from my server. (apologies to regulars at the major eyeswater server. Personal circumstances prevent my running it for a short while at least. it will be up and running as soon as i am able.) Anyway....yes, noob guns...Having got rid of them the server seemed to me to be just a little empty and it seemed a pity that two weapon slots were now obsolete. A little thought and fiddling enabled me to swap the explosive nades in the mm1 for smoke nades. This seems to me to be the best solution to the spare weapon slot problem. (Although i imagine thermite may be quite fun if somewhat unrealistic :) . ) It worked a treat and was generally well liked by the players as it encouraged more tactical play. Something ALL servers seem to be lacking through no fault of their own. Is there a "cs-gas" mod that anyone knows of?
M203 whiners were treated to nades timed at half a second and this seemed to satisfy a lot of complainants (though not all of course. :uhm: ) as it prevented the "knee-jerk-reaction-mutual-destruction-thing" and is generally a bit more realistic. (Incidentally, for a complete description of how these nades work in real-life visit "How Stuff Works.com". This site is superb.)
I have no idea what to do with the rpg slot! Surely there must be some use for it!? Any suggestions please? Also does anybody know of any other interesting nade mods I might try? I would quite like to see a nade that fragmented properly like a real one. Perhaps using a 360-degree shotgun round or something. Does anybody know if this is posible or if there is a mod like this? Tnx.

hey that would be a great idea, but id dont think so. the original explosion does the fragmented thingy
it may not be realistic but considering we are playing a what 2 yr old game? u can expect anything to be perfect.

I was thinking in terms of a mixture of the two effects or something.....I noticed that the nades do not deplete armour when they go off. Perhaps a smallish blast radius with plenty of fragmentation would do the trick? Or might this be too resource-intensive and cause lag?

PS SOF2 ain't dead yet! :) I'm sure there's still plenty of fun and innovation to be had out of the game even after HL2 comes out! Keep modding chaps!!
