Server won't allow download of maps

Hello all. I got good help here the last time so I thoght I'd try again. My server will not allow downloads to client machies. So if a player doessn't have the same maps as my server, they cannot play when those maps cycle up.

I have gone into the server settings and set the downloads to "YES" but it doesn't seem to matter. I also looked in the config file and the line about allowing downloads is set to "1".

A second thing is that the maps will not cycle. What ever map I start with it just keeps reloading until we vote to change it. There seems to be no way to have them change automatically.

Thanks for any insight to these matters.

Nope. Does not matter if he has a firewall for that. If he has his ports open it will allow the ddownload.

The issue comes from the fact that if he is running a mod like rocmod, there are a couple different places the setting is located and he could be checking the wrong cfg file.

Re: Server won't allow download of maps

I'm running SoFII Double Helix with the Gold Patch Ver. 1.03 on a Windows 2000 Server. It is not a rented server, it sits in my house. It is running on actual server OS.

There is no firewall in place but it does go through a wirless router and is set in the DMZ on the router. I have often had trouble getting this server to show up in the list but normally no problem with the guys simply adding the IP to thier favorites. I don't know if that is related or not.

I am not running any mods, but I have added numerous maps and it simply will not allow anyone to download them. The server is on a seperate ISP conncetion than my gaming rig and I have tried repeatedly to make this work.

If there is a specific config file I should be checking, can you tell me the name?

Ok ....let's start here.
Portforward.com is your friend. You shouldn't run DMZ. This will tell you what you need to do to forward your ports.

You will not see your server in the list, YOU will see it in the local list ( in most cases).

Also ,
I believe it has to be 0 in the allow download to work.
been a little bit of time ...

Re: Server won't allow download of maps

No, I will not see in local. I am not connected to in any way, shape or form except through the internet. It is on a completely seperate connection. It doesn't share the router. My gaming rig's connection it completely independant. Also none of my buddies can see it in the internet server list.

I live in the country and have fixed wireless for internet connections. Since my locations was a great spot for it, the ISP mounted a 35' tower with antennas on my property. For allowing them to do this, I get two seperate connections. (For Free!) Not nearly as fast a cable, it's far better than dial up and the best I can curretnly get where I live.

All other settings I've verified have a "0" for "no" a "1" for "yes".

Again if there is a specific config file, what's the name?

Under network settings, there where you answer yes or no to allow downloads, there is a spot that asks for a password and a specific port. What should those be set to? Is this relevant to the downloads?

Thanks again

Re: Server won't allow download of maps

seta sv_allowdownloads "1"
as your running sof2 vanilla then that will be in your sof2mp.cfg in the base/mp folder.
make sure its a dedicated internet server (green box)
if you allow downloads that still means players must also have allow downloads set other wise they will not download anything. if you have that set then the problem might not even be with your server.
can you post the ip and i will see if i can download from it.
