map and mod files aren't opening. HELP! After a crapy downloaded program, I had to do a complete uninstall of sof2 and all related files. After reloading and redownloading. I screwed up and hit "open with" on a map pack (.pk3 file) and selected game spy arcade as the program to open with. It changed all of my files in that file type to a file type that makes them useless. How do I change them back to the corect file type and aplication that will allow them to work in sof2? I have already tried "open with" sof2/program file. It didn't revert to a usefull file. What is the corect file type? I have already uninstalled 2 or 3 times. Very time consuming. HELP?:silly: :furious: |

Re: map and mod files aren't opening. HELP! PK3's are compressed file archives - Associate them with winzip, or (my favourite)ALZIP. |
Re: map and mod files aren't opening. HELP! Have you opened up a Explorer window and clicked tools, options, files types. Then find .pk3 and associate it with sof2? |

The game operated fine as well as the down loaded map and mods for a year or more. Then I down loaded NERO FIX, which attached itself to all my files. I didn't like nero fix so I uninstalled it. All my map files were still attached to nero fix and wouldn't work. I then tried "open with" on a map file and clicked "game spy" thinking that since the game was associated with it, it might make the map usable. That changed all the map files to an aplication that opens game spy arcade on my computer. I uninstalled everything again and reinstalled with the game spy aplication. I tried "open with" again on a map pack (.pk3) and sellected "sof2" as the file to open with but it didn't change anything. All files are saved in winzip as the corect files, but untill I find a way to aply them to the corect aplication they won't work. |
Re: map and mod files aren't opening. HELP! Maybe nerofix didnt uninstall properly. make sure there are no references to nerofix left in your registry (start - run - regedit) do a search for "nerofix" and delete all keys. I read somewhere (...I could be wrong here....) that nerofix overwrites or replaces your sof2mp.exe with its own one which might explain why the files are not associated to your normal sof2mp.exe anymore. |
