Hi,
when i get onto a server i play for about 30 seconds and it freezes completly so i have to manually restart. Its only just started because i switched from a geforce 2 card to a geforce 4 i think i have all the latest drivers. please help!!
Wheelspinn is right.this problem is becomming more and more frequent these days. You can get this at nvidia.com,and remember its not always that the newest drivers work better than your old one.the driver you can try out is called windows/xp driver 45.23
Yea...its just a glitch with the video card driver..every single person with a Gforce 4 has that problem at one point or another..lol...yea..the only problem with downgradeing your drivers is it can create problems with other games that require new ones...for instance..i recently bought halo for the pc..its a good game but i needed to upgrade the drivers for it to play properly..so i did and then sof2 didnt work..its a pain in the ass...but theres nothing u can do unless nvidea produces a driver that supports most platforms(year right like that'll happen)..so i guess until then..we will have to find a way to deal with it.
I finally got mine working. I think it has something to do with the Nforce drivers. I unistalled all Nvidia drivers and had a hell of time getting the new ones (3.13) installed. I had to go into the system screen that shows when different systems are having driver issues and had to have the computer find them manually and sometimes point directly to the 3.13 folder for various (audio, usb) drivers. ONce there were no issues, I then installed my 45.23 drivers and everthing started working again.
Yes , I keep hearing about the conflict between the latest nvidia drivers and punkbuster -(just went through that - and had it in the past).
As far as needing the latest drivers for such games as Halo(Pc) - well I myself have written that game off completely as even with the latest drivers it performs like crap on my system: 1.7ghz P4 - 768 meg pc800 - gf4 4600ti etc...
I have seen that it can get acceptable fps when using direct x 8.1 but what the hell bloody good is that to anyone who has had to install direct x 9.b for more recent games.
Sorry to rant , but, - - - Burn In Hell Microsoft!
My machine was hanging about 30 seconds into the game. i read all the forum threads and concluded that it was my drivers (nvidea ti4200) and tried all the usual remedies (uninstall and install older drivers etc) but i noticed that the problem was becoming gradually worse. i now have th unfortunate situation of the machine hanging in the menu. has anyone else had this prob? i'm beginning to think that my graphics card is knackered as it also seized up on me during the Direct3D test in DX diagnostics. i'm at a loss to resolve the matter.any thoughts, anyone?

Well i did end up trying a number of different drivers and it turned out that 45.23 allows you to play SOF2 without problem, and Halo works fine for me now..it plays excellent for me and my computer is running a 1.5ghz p4 with 256 megs of ram and a gf4 4600ti..so i dont kno what to tell you about that
