Modeling programs?

ok i was wondering what modeling program all you modelers are using and how much they cost. Becuase all the ones i find cost over 1000 dollars and that seems way to high if some of u are just messing around with them.

If you just wanna mess around use MilkShape 3D, if you're serious I think the name of the program is called 3D Max or Max3D or something, costs a lot of money but I'm sure you can get a crack somewhere, not off me though.

GameSpace Light... from the Creators of Truespace/Gamespace

OpenFX, My favorite, powefull, supports NURBS.

Click here for an example image from their site.

Milkshape 3D <---- 3DsMax and this can't be replaced for creating models. Send someone who has one of them your model to get it in game, and use one of the afforementioned apps to create the model.

Truespace <--- costs alot, Direct competitor to 3DSMax.
LightWave <--- Macintosh only...

And Finally the CREAM of the crop...

gmax <---- 3DSMax! for Free, Officially supported by 3DSMax. Officially supported by many Games. Can't beat that!

Re: Modeling programs?

gmax currently doesn't support GLM. Only 3DSMax, and Milkshape3D support it.

As for tutorials, download gmax's Active Tutorials. The Help page will guide you through the "Tutorial" model, which is included, a version for each page of the "Help".
