Insider view of The Sims

I worked at maxis and let me tell you, I will never tell anyone to apply for a job there or buy another Maxis game after having been treated like a slave there and repeatedly lied to.

Not only are their games full of bugs and tested by inferior people but they promote workers based on popularity not hard work or knowledge.

The way Maxis hires ppl.. they follow a formula for hiring/firing that they think no one will figure out because they are egotistical morons that think they are invincible. That forumla is..

They hire people on a 3 month term contract and renew that contract 2 or 3 times but when u get close to a year they cut you loose and tell you to call them in 3 months.. why? So they don't have to pay for your benefits.. They figure, just let them dumb employees work 16 hour days, 7 days a week at $10 an hour then cut you loose for 3 months and start you all over again so you can work like a slave again with no benefits and empty promises of moving up, making more money or getting a secure job. They even promoted people to assistant leads with no pay increase.

Not only that but they do not listen to input from the employees or treat them with a shread of respect. i was told on my second day after being told I was working 9 hour days, 5 days a week for at least a month b4 ovetime started and I quote:

Boss "Oh tomorrow we're starting 12 hour days, 7 days a week."

Me: "But I thought we agreed to that origional schedule?" Boss: "Well that's the way it is, I got tissues if you need them."

That kind of sarcasm is not needed in the work place. This was the general attitude of their managment - fuk every1 but me and my friends.

Take it from some1 who worked there, I was lied to and mistreated and every1 in their testing department hates the company.

They force their employees to work 16+ hours a day whie taking manditory unpaid breaks for hours at a time. I even pulled a 22 hour shift there once and they made me take 3, 1 hour unpaid breaks, wtf. They are great at screwing you out of your overtime pay.

I don't see how a company can expect high morale when it mistreats it's employees so poorly.

The reason the games are getting worse is because the testing department got moved over from EA headquarters to maxis recently and every1 there is not working on bettering the game.. the leads are more interested in fantasy sports then anything else.

Besides the constant lying, they laid every1 off in the middle of the project for Sims2 with less than 5 minutes of notice.. now that's really messed up.

I have worked in QA testing for many gaming companies, corporate and not and Maxis is by far the worst of all as far as how they de-humanize people.

They are full of BS and I would urge every1 to not support them.

Sucks that you got screwed, but the games are a lot of fun.... so there's no way I'm stopping. I already have The Sims 2 perordered.
