The problem is caused by windows not un-installing all of the program when you uninstalled it. Meaning XP did not delete the file in your installed programs list. This list of installed programs can be found at C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information\
This is a hidden folder, to unhide go tools, folder options, view tab, click show all. Apply.
You will need to search thru the list of long product serial numbers. I opened the "setup" on each one. As the setup starts it shows what program it is linked to. If it does not state if for the Sims or the latest expanision pack, click cancel. Repeat until you find the correct one. Just delete on the whole folder.
If that does not work, or would like to try the back door way first. Put in the CD, click cancel. Got to windows explorer, and look thru the CD to find something called installer or setup. |
