Sid has disapeared

I was messing with some of the weapon .ltx files (mainly changing fire modes so it's more realistic) and when I loaded up my saved game, Sid was gone. He's not in his chair. He is still on the map, but when I look at the contacts list it says that another stalker (the one that guards the entrance to the village by sid's bunker) is closer then he is, so I'm guessing he is somewhere underground in the abyss or something.

I went to dark valley, slept for 5 hours (I'm using OL mod) then came back but he still wasn't there. A is he needed at all again(I just raided the bandit base and got the other half of the key to x18) and B does the whole area reset if you are out of it for long enough so he will come back?

Sid will not return untill you undo/fix your weapon file changes. I have had the same thing happen on more than one occasion. Ya see, Sid is a very sharp guy, he's not gonna hang around while you test your new weapon / ammuntion mods hoping your guns don't explode and kill everyone around ya.

Go back and undo your changes. If ya did more than ya can remember, replace all of them with the copy you made of the originals, (you did make a backup copy right?) Then start over with what ya want to change. Only do a few at a time, in case sid hides or they don't work, that way you can go back and easily find the change and undo it.

Even with all the tuts out there and all the things I've learned with this game, I still have troubles sometimes and have to undo my changes. I made a similar mistake last night with something I changed in CS and couln't move the cursor at the game start.

If ya need actual tips on the wpn changes, let me know, I will try to help.

Will he automatically come back when I change the weapons back and load a saved game, or do I have to change then leave the area and come back or something?

Also I need to figure out what point I was at with that change. I may have to put it all back to default OL and go back a few more saves. Hope that works.

PS Does editing the trader files make him disappear too? cuz I had changed those so that I could buy the gun I was testing from him.

Yeah, trader files, weapons, I even once had it happen after playing with the outfit ltx.

Sometimes he will show up again after things were changed back, but sometimes not. Yea, I have had to go back and install the original files more than once and go back a few saves. Hate ta say it, but I still have to do that sometimes!

I make a folder in my Fearless modded files folder and name it Original game data for each mod I want to tweak, and then make a modded game data folder and periodically save a copy of the whole thing with the current date too, just incase I go nuts with changing a lot and have to go back a few steps, that way I don't have to go all the way back to the original and start completly over.
