I'm usually pretty good at figuring out these errors, but this one has me stumped. I am using the new mod Unreal freeplay mod mix and things were going great until the Wild Territory. When I try to loot one of the 4 snipers at the start of the mission, the game does a CTDT.
FATAL ERROR
[error]Expression : vertex || show_restrictions(m_object)
[error]Function : CPatrolPathManager::select_point
[error]File : E:\stalker\sources\trunk\xr_3da\xrGame\patrol_path _manager.cpp
[error]Line : 155
[error]Description : any vertex in patrol path [bar_freedom_attack_camper_1_walk] in inaccessible for object [bar_freedom_attacker_2]
I have got this same error 4 times in a row. any ideas what to try?
Yes, this is annoying vertex error (it is listed amongst known bugs at the end of the README), unfortunatelly i didn't make to get rid of it yet :( I think it is caused by mixture of OL waypoints and AMK random anomalies when some npc character is somewhere blocked (not sure anyway...).
This is mostly random error and usually does not reappear after the load. However, if it does, try different action first. Like you did. I think if you returned to wild territory after your action in Freedom, you wouldn't get that error. Also switch between levels usually helps.
I'll try to solve it out, meanwhile just keep on trying ;)
All right mate, I tried a few more loads from various maps and finally got through! This thing is turning out to be awsome. The more I play, the more little cool things I discover! Thanks and keep up the great work.
Hate to say it but I have not got past x18, as I get the same error again as before. I have started from 9 named saves, 3 from earlier maps, and 3 new games but always get the crash upon exiting the lab back to wild terr. Any ideas? I will keep trying since having AI able to spawn/wander anywhere randomly should allow me to get past eventually.
Finaly made it through the end!!!!!! Awsome mod. It took a lot of reloads and new games tho, but it was worh it. The view from those towers/smoke stacks would be geat on clear day! Hint Hint.
Actually the it's the small stuff that made it good, new sounds, music, and of course the pipe bombs, the next best thing to remote activated devices. Thanks!
This error is solved by workaround in update package of the mod and its subsequent hotfix. Update and hotfix also include new mods added (i.e. Arsenal RC1, Panoramic Mod) and lot of other new stuff.
Base mod, update and hotfix can be downloaded here:
Be sure to use also specific settings if running 32bit Windows OS to prevent crashes (CTD) due to memory leaks:
Thanx to Faiakes and Stauffenberg.
This is the description taken from Faiake's site:
****** Stauffenbergs Stalker vista 32 bit "out of memory" fix ******
The problem: Stalker crashes on vista 32 bit when played on high settings as there is not enough memmory available.
This happens because vista 32bit can't address more than 2 GB of memory unless you use this tweak.
There are basically 2 things that need to be done:
1) Make sure the game is patched to 1.0005
and
a - Go to Start/Accessories/run command prompt (the dos box thingy)
b - Right click on the link, hit "Run as administrator"
c - Now copy and paste: BCDEDIT /set increaseuserva 3072
d - Hit enter and restart.
Now stalker and any other games that have this problem on vista (Gothic3, Supreme Commander, Vanguard, BF 2142, etc.) should run as smooth and stable as you can ask for.
If you have questions, feel free to contact "21.Pz Stauffenberg" on the filefront forums or mail him at jhor@hotmail.de
Thanks to Andy77 from the Nzone forums for finding this solution!
****** "out of memory" fix for XP ******
First you need to tell XP that it can use more than 2GB of RAM for applications.
Manually edit your boot.ini file by adding " /3GB /Userva=2900" to your boot.ini (no quotes). Your boot.ini is normally read only and you will need to change that temporarily while you edit it.
To Edit it manually you can find it on the root of your system drive or go to system properties/advanced tab, settings under 'startup and recovery' section, then hit edit.
Mine looks like: multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)WINDOWS="Window s XP Professional" /FASTDETECT /NOEXECUTE=OPTIN /3GB /Userva=2900
Yours may be different, the only thing you should do is add /3GB /Userva=2900.
Hi all. I see a number of stalkers are getting the vertex ctd, I am having the same problem, only mine ctd's at the exit from the npp, I run across to the warp point and as the mono's warp in i'm looking at my desktop with its pritty icons aaaarrrrggghhhh...what the bugtrap says on mine description : any vertex for object [aes2_monolit_walk11] in inaccessible for object [aes_monolit_stalker_0010],,,tried all sorts of things reloading, going and coming, trying another way to the warp point, oh no your not sorry CTD, I tried the npc_kill but no go, its odd that you all should get the ctd in different places, just thought you might like to know......nemisis
