Stalker crashing..

When i start playing stalker, it just run fine here. But lately, just started to crash and bug.

This is the bug (i think): After i make a mission for Sidorivich (one that i have to steal some documents from the military post), everytime that i tried to enter in the duty camp in the bar area, they just popup in my radar in red and start to shooting at me! And i not even talked to the freedom yet... and they just shoot at me. But only the ones at the base, the guards of the general in bar area. All others duty just are neutral to me.

Now, the problem that just is freaking me out: Stalker just crash. I tried everything, but, stalker is toooo instable for me. Sometimes, i can stay all day and night playing stalker and dont crash. But, like today, it just crash. My pc just stop, and i cant even go back for desktop... forcing me to restart everytime that stalker crash. Never showed any mesage of error or something.

My configs: c2d e4300 1.8, 1 gb ddr2, x1650 pro 512 ddr2, 280 gig

Stalker Config: 800x600, object dinamic lights.
- View Distance: 25%
- Objects detail: 50%
- Grass density: 0%
- Textures detail: 50%
- Anisotropic and AA: 0%
- Sun and Grass shadows: off
- Light Distance: 0%
- Npc Flashlight: on
- Shadows Quality: 20%
- Vertical Sync: off
- Frequency: 60Hz

Im using the Float 32 mod (last version) and the 'Improved Sound Efects 0.9'. And i only use tweak for shadow maps quality and this one r2_ls_bloom_fast, to improve bloom and HDR.

Normaly i use the Catalyst AI in advanced. But this just make stalker crash more often. Then, i use in Standart. Im using the last CCC drive.

Anyone have ideas??

I'm getting the same problem, with that card - except my error is occurring on the underground when you turn off the PSI Generator.

@Cunhao: I would try without Float32. It is most probably a graphic problem and to me, Float32 looks like an obvious candidate for such an error.

Hmm... yeah... in tweakguides.com, there something about float 32 making stalker unstable. I will try to disactivate it and see if don't crash anymore. Thanks for the tip. :]

And about the duty: yeah! i already thinked in that... they're just asking me to die! the freedom guys are much more receptive than the duty. At least, the first freedom i met, he asked me to join them because is 'funny'. And the duty just received me with bullets.. lol

Ok... i tried to run the game without the float 32. But, less than one minute.. stalker crash again. Then i just take out all the mods that i was using, i run stalker again, but crashed. Well, now i'm using some others mods to test in her. I discovered that before stalker crash, the game start to stutter like never, them, all in a sudden, just crash, and i can't even go back to the desktop. Some places make it crash more often, like aproaching some camp or base. This mainly occur when im runing...

Ah! I have updated my gpu driver and turned on catalys ai to stantard and other times to off.

The results of my tests:

- Deleted all the mods, 800x600 object dinamic lights/full dinamic lights, low~medium, catalyst AI standard/off -> crash

- Without the mods or with the mods, 1024x768 static lights, medium~high, CCC AI standard/off -> don't crash

In the end... maybe is just 'my radeon'. Maybe i just need more ram.. i don't know. I read cases that people with 4 gb have stalker crashing like me... im thinking in get some more ram. 1 gb more to make 2 gb.

Hm, unless your card is very old, it should work with 1GB I think. Did you install latest catalyst drivers? But maybe it works for you with mods and static lighting.

I know what the problem is. You have an ATI 1650 pro I see. I don't know what catalyst driver you have for it, but I know that one of the newest drivers has a program that deactivates your GPU (graphic card proccesor). I don't have ATI but I solved this problem for a friend. You should look somewhere in your catalyst control center for that.

I use a x1650 pro 512 ddr2. I run crysis, bioshock, gears of war, supreme commander and others games without a problem. But stalker.... is a pain to run in here. And i think that is a memory problem because, every time before to crash, it just stutter and then crash.

Now i messed everything up! I tried to install the ATI Tray Tools, but it seems that just make everything worse... Now, stalker even start! My pc just freeze and reboot.. (and not only stalker.. all the games are in this way). Then, i desintalled ATT, but everything just freeze and reboot when i try to play any game.. So, i reinstaled all the drivers again (catalyst), but my pc continues to freeze and reboot. Now im trying to figure out how make stalker just start.

ps: don't know what happened... I already used ATT before, and just runed fine. Sry for being so noob now... T___T

I would say, try that and then install the latest catalyst.

Ok.. i tried that, but i can't download the program that he say to get and i don't find the free version. So i just reinstaled all the windows here. It's like that: I have 3 hd's (20+80+160). So, i just formated and reinstaled the hd with the windows (80). Stalker and another games are in the 160. But i got the same problem: the game star to load, soon i can hear the music of the menu but the screen is black. Then, the music crash and my pc reboot (even after I reinstaled all the windows..).

When i tried to use the ATI Tray Tools, these are the options that i have 'moved':

- Performance mode
- Stardart Tweaks
- Advanced Tweaks
- "Queue of something"
- Overclock... in this part, i was just 'experimenting' some functions to see how the ATT overclock works. Then, i tried that option... err.. something like 'Automatic overclock', that the program look for the best clock for you (i thinked that was something like the overdriver..). But, in 15~30 seconds of auto testing, the screen freeze with some small blue points all over the screen. So i fast rebooted my pc (afraid that something worst happen to my vga). I wonder if that don't maked very 'bad' to my VGA...

What do you guys think?

Tomorrow i will test another vga here, see if the problem is in my vga or in another thing..

Unconscious: i don't have that kind of problem, because, when crash or freeze here, is kind of random.

that's very similar to the problem i had in OL 2.1, when i was in the red forest, all the sudden the game started to studder whenever you moved it wouldn't exactly freeze up or anything, but when i shut off the scorcher and made it outside of the lab i was killed and the game just crashed, nothing but a black screen. i reloaded a manual save and the game worked perfect after that.

but i've never had a problem with vanilla, it's probably your system.

Yes, it's pretty sure your system/drivers are f***ed up. Although I would suggest to try another game to see if that works with you "new" system. And I wouldn't suggest overclocking because it can make the system unstable (or in the worst case toast your GPU) and your system seems to unstable enough.

Ok... now I got to make everything go back to normal. It's very weird, but, the only thing that i have done is change the connectors in my video. In place to use the left connector I used the right connector. And when I turn my pc on, in the bios menu, he said that the 'overclock as failed'. And then, everything runed fine...

I tried make this because, i tested my gpu in my friend's pc, using the right connector and worked. Now, i tried the samething in here and worked too.

Atrocious: yes.. maybe when i was testing the overclock in ATT, my system just applied that clocks in my test (that crashed my gpu). Now seems that is everything back to default values.

tx1198: a save file corrupted can make that? i mean.. make everything instable like that? sttutering and freezing? Because.. before, when i start playing stalker, that kind of problem didnt happen.. i don't wanna lost my save game... T-T
