| The computer I'm trying to play it on is new, I have yet to play it on this computer. However it far exceeds all of the system requirements, so I know that that is not the issue either.

| Did you try deleting the user.ltx? I ask because of all the weird messages in your log. |

| yes. I just installed the game without patching it, I am able to play it. However, it says that there are no updates for the game when I go to options, then game, then check for updates. I'll try installing OL and see how it goes..

| of course, it didn't work. The only issue I am having now is that the game is unable to patch. I'm sure that it will play any mod, but, to play a mod, the game must be patched.

| So you said the problem is that you can't find updates from inside the game? You could apply them from outside. You need either the world-wide or the American version, depending on your game: S.T.A.L.K.E.R. World Wide Patch, Stalker Downloads, Stalker Patches S.T.A.L.K.E.R. | when I apply the updates from and outside patch, then attempt to launch the game, that is when the error message comes up. I did delete the "user.ltx" thing, and this the the new error log I get as a result. * Detected CPU: GenuineIntel P3 family, F6/M15/S6, 2401.00 mhz, 63-clk 'rdtsc' * CPU Features: RDTSC, MMX, SSE, SSE2 Initializing File System... using fs-ltx fsgame.ltx --found external arch mp_military_2.xdb0 FS: 30258 files cached, 5425Kb memory used. | Well, as you can see from the log, it crashes because it cannot find user.ltx. You could restore from recycle-bin - or better extract it from the database files to get the original. To do so, you could use db extractor and yellow pages: http://forums.filefront.com/s-t-l-k-...ml#post4342897 (Re-installing and re-patching is the easier way to get the original files, of course) |

| I'm also having problems with STALKER. Game crashes before it even loads and the error dump will not let itself be sent. The error message is : XR_3DA.exe caused BREAKPOINT in module "c:\program files\steam\steamapps\common\stalker shadow of chernobyl\bin\xrCore.dll" at 001B:00C97CB5, xrDebug::backend()+165 byte(s) Registers are : EAX=05C0A6E8 EBX=00000029 ECX=05C0A6F0 EDX=05C0A80F ESI=00CC22A8 EDI=0012D470 FLG=00200216 EBP=0012CB70 ESP=0012BB68 EIP=00C97CB5 CS=001B DS=0023 SS=0023 ES=0023 FS=003B GS=0000 I am running through Steam on a Vista platform Any ideas ? |

| SiRKemp , I am using the same, Vista/steam. I did find this on the Steam forums for the Stalker complete mod but it may help a little. Are you running any mods at all? There is just the full 1.3 version, then the 1.31 patch... what else did u install? Simply take the full install gamedata folder and copy that to your main Stalker folder "C:\Program Files\THQ\S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Shadow of Chernobyl" by default, it's different for Steam users though. Then do the same with the patch, copy the full gamedata folder to your Stalker folder, overwrite ALL files if asked. Now when u run Stalker, the mod should work just fine, you'll notice the new menu backround and at the bottom of your screen should say "ver 1.0005 - Stalker Complete 2009 1.31" If you'd like to play Stalker without the mod, or try other mods, simply rename your main gamedata folder to another name, or delete it altogether to uninstall the mod. EDIT: OK Sorry, I see they now have v1.32 patch. In this case all you need is the full mod v1.3 and then the full patch 1.32, no need for incremental update, as this is only for those who already have the full 1.31 and want to patch to 1.32 It is here: STALKER Complete 2009 - Steam Users' Forums
