Well, here it goes. I purchased Stalker about 3 weeks ago. Installed it, and everything worked fine. For about a week. As I reached X18, I started encountering problems- there were major texture glitches, the game's FPS fell down from 35 down to 8 and random coloured pixels started appearing on the screen. I decided to restart the computer, this is when I realised that something had badly gone wrong. Even not in game, I still had the random coloured pixels on the screen, and my games barely seemed to run at all. I tired system restore- no effect. I deinstalled the game, still no effect! Out of pure desperation, I opened up the computer, took the gfx card out, and put it back in- amazingly, it worked. One week later I played Stalker again. The previous glitches started appearing again- I quickly turned the game off only to see that the screen was still screwed up . I repeated the same process with removing, and replacing the gfx card, but this time it did NOT work. I believe, that this is a unique problem, but some help would be GREATLY appreciated. And here are my rig specs:
AMD Dual Core X2 4400+
inno3D 7800gt 256mb
2gb Kingston RAM
250GB WDC HDD
Update your video drives. If that fails, uninstall and reinstall your video card. If that fails remove your video card and turn your pc on, if you have internal graphics on your motherboard things should work (minimally). Shut down comp and put gfx card back in and see if it works. If *that* fails, reinstall stalker and see what happens (copy your saved game) (uninstall all mods too.) If *THAT* doesn't work...Well I'm stumped. I'm sure someone can help.
It sounds like its either your video drivers, or your card itself. Try turning Vsync and AA off. Vsync used to screw up games of mine sometimes.
As for random colored pixels...if they're all seperate and bunched together and red and/or white you have the same issue I had with Doom 3. Never figured out the problem though. It kicks in if I've been playing CS : Source for too long...
Is your video card standing on the motherboard or laying out sideways. Gravity will sometimes create a bad base for hardware and move it just enough that it'll screw everything up.
you sure it's not just overheating your graphics card? maybe run with a household fan sat in front of it blowing air into it to see if it plays up then?

I'm very sorry, for the extremely late reply. Cheers, for all the help I got Anyways, I got the problem fixed- amazingly, by re-slotting the graphics card AGAIN. The card doesn't overheat, the temperature while playing the game went up to 69°C and stayed there. Does anyone have a clue how STALKER could be causing this crash?Edit: I attached an image of what my screen looked like.

As I said, if you have on-board graphics, remove your video card and turn on your computer. See what your desktop looks like. If it's not screwed up then you'll either need to a) buy a new video card, or
b) uninstall your video card (through add/remove hardware), reinstall, and update your drives all over again. If it is screwed up still, then I am stumped. If I think of\figure anything out I will get back to you.
Uh...I think I mentioned that I got the problem fixed in my last post :P The screenshot just shows what my screen looked like while I had this issue- it is now gone, but I am not daring to start up Stalker again to see what happens. @dannyboy- My monitor is: Viewsonic VX924 19" 3ms response time. Let me just make this clear: Issue resolved, no further help required, thanks.
I donno if this would help..But i got the same problem...the thing is that the winfox (i use to OC my Grphc Card) program is the one causing it. I uninstall it and things go fine.. Maybe you got similar program? Just an opinion..hee
Hmm, I'm currently not running any sort of overclock- I did enable the clock frequency settings in my Nvidia control panel through Nvtweak, though. I'll try turning that off, and then running the game again.
