Go to "gamedata\config\weapons" and look for the "*.ltx" files.

In each one, there are the values that govern the accuracy of the gun (and many other stuffs of course).

Let's say you want to alter the Nikonov "Abakan" AN-94.

Open the "w_abakan.ltx" file.

Look for the section from "fire_dispersion_base" to "cam_step_angle_horz".

All those values are what you're looking for.

fire_dispersion_base = 0.36 --> this is the main parameter for accuracy, the smaller the value, the better the accuracy.

control_inertion_factor = 1.34f --> this one is for handling the weapon, meaning that the greater the value, the more you'll have to move your mouse to look around when you have the weapon in yours hands. Useful for heavy weapons.

cam_relax_speed = 0.0 --> more or less the time needed for the weapon to come back in place after firing a shot. Realistic MODS oftently set that to 0 so the player has to compensate himself for the recoil.

cam_relax_speed_ai = 120.75 -->
the same as above, execpt that it's only for the NPCs. Combined with the value above set to 0, it allows the player to compensate for the recoil and have the NPC keep a "normal" behavior, as they don't compensate themselves for the recoil and keep shooting at the sky if not set. It's a kind of a secret parameter, as it's not present in the original files.

Those three values below concern the recoil of the weapon. For every weapon, I personnaly modify only the first parameter and keep the two others as they are set below. The greater the value, the bigger the recoil.
cam_dispersion = 1.8
cam_dispersion_inc = 0.0
cam_dispertion_frac = 1.0

Those values are for the movement of the weapons after firing a shot.
cam_max_angle = 90.0 --> this one is the max angle the weapon can go if you keep firing. Meaning if you keep firing (and don't compensate for the recoil), the weapon will keep aiming up and up again until an angle of 90 is reached. So yes, it goes straight to the sky but if you want realistic weapon, this value is quite the good one. Also, 50 or 60 could be enough for some people so I guess it's also a matter of taste, you will decide.

cam_max_angle_horz = 0.72 --> same as above but for the horizontal angle (left and right ). This is the maximum angle.

cam_step_angle_horz = 0.72 --> Same as above but it's more a "step" value. This value will be applied once on the left, or on the right, or on the left, etc, etc.
Don't set this to high or the weapon might go crazy, will go crazy, except if the max value above is set to a low value.

Those settings are mine and fully functional and playable. But your way of playing might be different.

To sum up all this, for better accuracy, change "
fire_dispersion_base" to a lower number.
To decrease recoil, modify the "cam_dispersion_" ones.
For what it's worth, i always set the last two parameters (no matter what the weapon is) to 2 x
fire_dispersion_base.

I hope this helped you
in any way.

Do you have any suggestions on how to make it.. more realistic? I don't wanna make it so your like an aiming GOD, where all weapons are 100% accurate, but I don't have good judgment as to what's "fair". For all players. I'm currently making a nice realism modification, new weapon animations, textures, gore effects, etc.

Read up on the real world stats for your weps? via wiki or another encyclopedic site that caters for guns..

do yourself a favor though.. and stay clear of the whole "fair for everyone" crap.. It'll send ye batty trying to please the masses in any mod for any game.. trust me.. been there! Just make it so you feel its fair.. feels good for you, get maybe 1-2 other opinions.. then leave it at that. basically,, you'll never please everyone, & there are alota "un-please-able" peeps out there who'll drag u down with there "dont like that one" attitude.
(think that no-so paraplegic in little Brittan.. do you really wanna feel like that poor carer guy?)

& for a real blast.. try the "progressive_weapon_mod_v0.4" by Niels Andersen, a pretty cool idea when it comes to accuracy progression during the game.

Xarian Prime is right, you won't be able to please everyone. Just concentrate on pleasing yourself, and eventually some people will have the same taste as you.

To be short, I uploaded my weapon's files so you can take a look at them.
Copy, do some experiment of yours and find the right balance to fit your own taste.

Be aware that some of the weapons are new ones coming mainly from other MODS and some are modified ones.
My mod is quite complete, and integrates modified weapons and ammo, so be careful of what you read, it might be something you don't need or that you don't have.

Concerning shotguns, their fire power is combined with their ammo, so be aware if you copy those values.

Tell me if you have questions about this. You can send me an e-mail if you want a faster answer.
