i've got a question: are you making a real indepth story to this mod? or are you just gonna make a bunch of mutant and stalker spawns on the maps and add levelchangers?
also if your making a story, how far are you done it and sum up maype a little of what goes on

I am really looking forward to this mod! It sounds absolutely amazing in concept, and I expect that it will give me hours of fun just like Oblivion Lost and AMK did. And the modding documentation will likely be a great resource for the community. Keep up the fantastic work!

One small request: a native English-speaking individual with strong writing skills to touch up any new text for the English version. While Priboi Story had a nicely written storyline and intelligent dialogue, the grammar and spelling mistakes would, at times, mar the great writing. So much so that I would sometimes get confused as to exactly what I was being told to do. Combine a native English speaker to fill this role with your experiences developing prior mods and I am sure it will lead you to a more polished, overall incredible modification. For that matter, if you actually find a native English speaker that ALSO knows Russian, well, I don't see how you could go wrong. That might be hoping for a bit much, however.

Good luck! I will eagerly await the release of Lost Alpha!

I can do one almost as good: There's a Quake modder named Tonik (author of zquake, ZQuake news), and I don't know if you can get him to work on this or not, but his English is impeccable. He's Russian and I believe he lives in or near Moscow.

Hi dezoder!

Sorry for disturbing you, I see you are very busy always, and you barely post here, but I want to ask something. I play stalker since the beginning. My english isn't really good, my father helped me to make my first post here.
I always read everything you post. I *REALLY* want to play this Lost Alpha mod. I'm getting bored on ol and priboi.
Now I'm scared because I saw many posts by you in the russian forums, which makes my heart broken. I saw you have very big problems with Lost Alpha. It crashes a lot and you don't know why.

I am talking about this:

GSC Game World - Îôèöèàëüíûé Càéò

I want to ask. Will this mod be ever released? It seems you can't fix the crashes and this is a disaster for me.

Unfortunately I can't help, I'm noob with modding, never tried it, but wish I could!
I can't wait until the release...

I can not speak for dezodor, but I did not get the impression that it was too broken to ever be fixed. Development of a mod, or anything, with this level of complexity is bound to have problems like that. And there is still much time between now and their planned release period. Don't lose hope! :P

(Hopefully you can read this. I don't know any language but English. )

yep we have problems, but we have time to solve. if its not engine problem, then we can fix it... the levels are big, anything can go wrong anytime, since this is actually a new game, not some tweaking... we need to play over the same as gsc did in the good old times hehe...

about the other post, just ignore it as i do, it was made by a guy who would be the happiest man on the world if we couldnt make lost alpha hehe... i can feel the hidden sarcasm in his post, he just regged a new account, because he feared to post with his "proper" one...

yep, dx8... i still dont have good pc for dx9 in stalker, but anyway, dx8 gives back old atmosphere much better than dx9.

It's probably because most of the old stalker screenshots made with DX8 since it's pretty old.
I mostly talk about this picture:

The draw distance seems to be blurred. Don't know why maybe it's just the weather. It does not look like the Clear Sky swamp, so I guess you did not rip it off from CS, this seems to be different.

I definitely understand how much work must go into a project like this. Naturally I hope everything works out, but I would certainly understand if something inherent to the engine prohibited it from happening. Life goes on. But whatever the outcome, the quality of your previous work proves you will do whatever you can to make it happen.

That said, I didn't get the same impression from the other guy's post. I got the feeling he genuinely wants it to happen, but was afraid something had happened to make it impossible. To be honest, if he was being sarcastic, he completely failed at doing so. He may well have signed up here just to ask if the project was beyond hope or not. I can't exactly see why he would want it to fail. But who knows? There are weird people on the internet.

Actually, I ran Priboi Story on an incredibly underpowered laptop once, and had to run it super-low-quality. Setting the object detail low and/or the r1_ssa_lod_a and _b settings to higher numbers tends to make distant objects look blurry as it reduces detail. It's just how the LOD system in STALKER works. That combined with the fogging and it almost looks like DoF. That's my guess, anyway.


EDIT: Oh, and those new screens look great! DX8 or otherwise!
