| Ran into a strange issue. Just got into the latest version of OL. Took me forever to get some AP rounds for either the 5.45 or 5.56 guns. Well, I finally did, just after I had tweaked some damages on armors. Enemy NPCs of all calibers were just dropping too fast for me, so I strengthened their armor quite a bit, especially those wearing a stalker suit or better. Also strengthened the Merc armor to that of other Freedom/Duty/Stalker suits. Now this feels proper. Bandits can stand another hit or two, and armored soldiers can take about 8-12 regular rounds, which have a generic pierce factor of 1.0. So imagine my surprise when they took just as many AP rounds. Despite giving them significant piercing power because I thought it needed more at first (1.5 for 5.45 AP, for instance), they appear to make little difference. Soldiers took just as many, and Bandits still take 3-4 hits, even while switching between round types to be sure. Is piercing factor broken in OL? Is it activated or do anything at all? First glance seems to say no, especially against this Merc group I just took down (the Fanatic quest event spawn). I'll continue testing. Once I finally run into Exo suit enemys, I'll know for sure. I've nearly quadrupled the damage factor on Exo suits. They're now capable of taking INCREDIBLE punishment. If AP rounds dont work, I'm gonna be in for a serious firefight. If anyone thinks making Exos walking juggernauts is highly unrealistic, I can quickly explain how wrong you are in two words - DRAGON SKIN. |

| While I'm aware of the sincere denials by the now late lamented OL 2.2 Dev Team; they under no circumstances encoded any bizarre or subtle and sophisticated psychological lures into OL 2.2, the below SS tends to undercut their position. ![]() I slid up into Pripyat to vist Kany (checking out the advice he could enable me to join the Mercs or Bandits----it's true!). When I got just short of the Pripyat gate in the Red Forest, I found that the Monolith gate guards were in a spawn loop, similar to my previous post about the Bandits coming into the Dark Valley from Garbage. In this case, the Monolith were spawning 2 to 3 guards every 30-60 seconds. I gave up shooting them after about 20 or so. I went into Pripyat, which was a bleepin' free fire zone, from all the different factions trying to pass through. I visited Kany and verified the join the Mercs/Bandits faction tip, and worked my way back out. Hearing a TRUCK LOAD of shooting ahead as I approached the Pripyat/Red Forest gate, I came across the scene pictured in the SS above! I did not kill any of them. They were a mixed bag of Duty, Freedom, Mil STALKERS, Bandits, & Monolith. Conclusive proof there ARE NOT any massive or looping spawns taking place in OL 2.2!

Description: This fat is rather rare in the zone and has multitude of uses It provides great house insulation It can be used as grease when you need to cook your diet sausage Adding it to your camp fire will keep the heat coming for DAYS As a last resort, stalkers have been known to chow down on fat to stay alive. Warning sideeffects may include flesh/boars becoming sexually attracted to you and... um... death. Quote:
I agree with making exos walking juggernauts but i fail to see its connection to dragon skin. That is hilarious, it looks like an orgy gone bad. I wish i had such intense firefights in mine, for me the duty/freedom just sit in the underground car park, a few monoliths are running around, after you wipe them out not much is left but an occasional zombie. I WANT MORE!! |

| Exo-suits ala Ironman or matrix do not exist in any functional way. The prototypes that do exist look very similar to the ones in the game. A mechanized crude frame with a giant power source. The STALKER devs probably modeled them directly from them given their similarity. Also in OL do all the listed stats of weapons even matter? And do attachable silencers effect the damage/accuracy of the weapons at all? Been using an AK i found very early that has maxed Rate of fire/accuracy no other found weapon can compete if the listed stats are accurate. Kinda depressing! The exos in game have all their compents exposed. Im sure whatever they use for a power source wouldn't like being shot. And since there arent any weapons specifically designed to be wielded by someone in a power suit the advantage of super strength is pretty moot. |

| Well, I suppose there's the PKM/MG3/Minigun bit, but people have been holding those for decades before Exo prototypes came along.......well, ok, not the Minigun. As for Dragon Skin, its just the beginning. As for how much the vest alone weighs, I have no idea. I think it was built with mobility in mind that won't weigh you down. Still, I could see advanced coverage being rather heavy. An Exo frame would remedy this issue, so why hold back. If one can make a vest that incredible, why not a full body suit & helmet? I dont see what there is to hold one back from such, and even if its makers don't have any such thing, they could be custom made. After all, even the Exos in the game aren't an official product - their descriptions claim they're all contraband blackmarket goods, which make sense. They're all still prototypes like the kinds we see in Youtube videos, they're just fitted with these battlesuits. Its highly possible for one to steal the technology, run off with it to another continent and sell the blueprints to the highest bidder, and some lucky bastard musta bought the deal of a lifetime - judging from the looks of everyone in the Red Forest & Pripyat, he musta made his money back fifty-fold. The Stalker universe isn't a very distant future at all, as the theory behind these suits might prove. A bulky frame that grants superhuman strength, that supports a massive covering of incredible bulletproof capability, not to mention a similarly made helmet that actually works for once. Now as for that mask.......dunno. A true helmet of such would likely cover more than it does in Stalker, probably making the facemask the only real weak spot. |

| No the exosuit is very moot. The components are completely exposed in the back and arms. There almost absolutely no use for the exosuit unless you want to weild a minigun but pkm\mg3?? Cmon man any soilder can hold it. The minigun is even possible to weild without exosuit. But we have to give that exosuit some use......so lets make the marked one a wussy. And plus dragonskin is indeed connected to the exosuit. The exosuit has a combat vest (I call it this because there's no way to confirm if it's actually dragonskin or not) And it also has leg guards and arm protection. Although I cannot realistically see a STALKER actually using the suit due to the encumberance and akward movement. And not to mention uncomfortablity from wearing metal shoes. So just gimme a Good ol SEVA suit or a Psh-SKAT 10 military suit and I'll be on my way. And for the record AP rounds can indeed rip through dragonskin armor. Oh and the use of exosuits in the zone isn't realistic either. With all that complex mechanics and also you have to have the exosuit fit the person who is going to wear it perfectly so the time and cost of making each individual exosuit isn't real at all. At the most it would take months and months to create a single exo. So all those duty, monolithian, freedom and such using the exo isn't realistic. And I really doubt that the exo is practical in anyway considering how encumbered and slowed down you are and to maintain, clean and make sure the electronics don't crap out on you. So yeah.

Is anyone else experiencing the magic of Sakharov as he walks through the window that you would normally talk to him through? He then calmly walks around the wall to the inside door and blocks it. I had to shoot him to get him to let me out since he flees about two steps to the left, but the door will open and push him behind it. The problem is that I sold him a few weapons later and he immediately equipped one and shot me in the head at point blank range (instakill). There is also the issue that he can move into the doorway if you get to close to the door while he is walking around (and is not hostile yet). Then you have to reload, since it is impossible to move him even with an F1. Is there a console code that I can use to reset his placement back behind the counter where he belongs? ![]() Quote:
