Surrender

Your enemies should be able to surrender. Like if you shoot near them or shoot at them with a better weapon than theres then they should drop the gun and get to there knees. Now oviously make it very diffacult to make them surrender and it should rarely happen cause it would get quite boring not being able to kill anyone. Or maybe shoot by there feet with a sniper and then get scared, either run, surrender, or even kill there-selves

You should be able to also surrender, say when ever your health is too low and you drop your weapon and crouch they stop shooting, but while they slowly walk towards you, you pull out a pistol and shoot them all in the head

I personally think this is a great idea and shouldnt be extremly diffacult to make...what do you think?

Well, coding the AI to your type of surrendering would be easier than you'd think. Changing the reaction used by the Mutants (Blind/Pseudodogs who run when they are out numbered or injured.)

But why go through all that when we have the Critical Injury where they throw down their gun and play dead, either faking death in hopes of escape or from being too hurt to fight.

Yea I agree. That shouldn't be so difficult because as a basement for the script you have the blind dogs.

They run away if they are alone and you shoot at them. But they fight when they are in a group. That could work for the soldier too.

They fight you in a group, but a single soldier would surrender if you shot at him.

I'm pretty sure when there ever on the ground there just hurt, not faking death...
but wouldnt it be funner for them to be scared half to death just waiting to die? Maybe even make them attempt to grab another gun, or killed there selves would be even better.
How about interogating them?

Wow I sound find of physo...:P dont get any ideas that im really like that

Well, obviously you don't use your knife that much. A number of times I've seem enemies fake death after taking a hit.
Two instances that stick out.

1. Bandit I shot in the chest went down with two others around him. I killed the other two then advanced, found him on the ground. Took out my knife and got a smile on my face. I was about 3 meters away when the bastard sprung to his feet, pistol in hand, clicking shots off. I was close enough my knife beat his pistol.
2. The military guard at the under pass. I thought I had just the one left. He was wounded on the ground so I came up with my knife. As soon as I was there, I hear a Blip "1 more enemy detected." and within seconds, there was an AKs-74u shooting me in the back. I ignored the wounded one and went around for cover. Got the guy that shot me, the went back to finish the first guy off, only to find he'd gotten up and got his gun back.

Really? I dont think I've ever seen that. Do they go grey on the mini map when they fake dead or stay red?

I personally think this isn't for me. There is no point whatsoever in being able to surrender yourself, because if u pull out the pistol, they will still wreck you.
As for them surrendering.. well. why? i mean ya, in real life a person might attempt to surrender, but this doesn't make it more fun or interesting.

Neither. They don't appear as a dot. But their model on the ground is obvious they are alive and they still do turn your crosshair red if you look at them, if you didn't turn the IFF tags off, or your crosshair.

@ZanderArch: Your second case sounds like you had a guy spawn on you.

@Topic: Making the enemy run away is easy, making them surrender (as defined by ||G||) would be a bit harder; you'd have to make new animations and code a new behavior.

No, It was at the middle point in Cordon. The little underpass. I think a creature or something distracted him from me and he came back to help his buddy.
