This version is way different than the stalker they released. I don't even really know what level I am on and there are zombies, military and dogs every where.

wow this shit is different from the STALKER I know.

The explosion and gun effects were particularly good and I cant for the life of me understand why the pussified the blood, sound, and fire effects.

And Cordon looked a hell of alot more interesting.

And actual physic in STALKER?? WTF!!!
Ai was alot better too.

Pretty much what I was thinking. I havent played it yet, but looking at those vids, S:OL was very different to what they actually released as S:ShOC.

I really hope modders take this and sort of "complete" it. ie add the story back in etc.

Ratings, probably. There's been a hella lot of clamping down on that stuff within recent years. Too many jacked-up politicians shit scared moron parents are gonna brand them the devil incarnate and vote for the opposition.

They only just managed to get a 16+ rating from PEGI for Clear Sky, it was on a knife's edge and very close to being unrated. If it'd been left unrated, they'd not have been able to release it in Europe.

Too many people are just grabbing the industry by the balls these days, trying to make themselves look good for "pacifying the grievances of the public" (i.e. catering to the majority of idiot whiners who wouldn't have a problem if they'd do their jobs properly).

Let's also not forget THQ applying publisher pressure because they wanted a quick payday. They fucked up Red Faction 2 in the same way, and that game was made by Volition. THQ own Volition. Since they're so determined to drive their own subsidiaries into the ground, I wouldn't hold my breath on them giving any outside developers a break.

GSC got lucky having Deep Silver as publisher for CS. Deep Silver know the meaning of patience, as evidenced by their handling of Egosoft. By that point though most of the damage had been done.

WTF Clear sky unrated?? Wtf is that bullshit. Clear sky is hardly even violent enough for a T rating let alone unrated. Thats just pure fucking bullshit. Manhunt 2 deserves to be unrated not Clear sky.

And deep silver - although they were patient could not stop GSC from fucking up

Not kidding, though. SoC and CS had to fight for their 16+ rating. If it were up to PEGI they wouldn't have been released in Europe, period. Apparently if it's scarier than the effin' Teletubbies, it's unfit for public viewing.

It's all because of friggin' parents whining that their kids are playing games full of guns and monsters and shit. Yeah, morons still haven't figured out that they shouldn't give five year olds games marked 18+, and the rest of us have to suffer for it.

Wow, i'm already thinking of the modding possibilities. putting the cutout levels into SoC, the OL mod. My mind is racing as i download.

edit: Oh man, watching those videos is making me drool. I love how there's actual fire after you shoot something flammable. This version seems much more realistic.

I WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED AND HOW GSC IS SO MASTERFUL AT SCREWING UP GOOD IDEAS!!!! I want trials!
