Dumbest thing you've ever done Post the dumbest thing you've ever done in STALKER. For me it was selling the family rifle to the Prof in Yantar, and guess what, buying the dbl-barreled shottie back from him doesn't make things right! But at leat I got 47r out of the deal. That's enough to buy what...a bandage? Sorry bout your rifle dude. :( A close second is dropping a explosive barrel in the fire in the Freedom camp (using the awesome Faiakee's mod) and blowing myself, and everyone singing around the campfire, up. Not a recommended way to get more ammo and G36's FYI. Thank god for the cheaters X36 whatever exoskeleton, don't leave home, or Cordon, without it. :love1: Now please excuse me, the MRS. brought in a full bottle of Grey Gooose and it is my DUTY (not Freedom) that I finish it off. :dread::gizperv: Happpy 4th |
I'd have to say the time I forgot to go see Guide and Doc and didn't realize it until I got to the hotel in Pripyat. Oh, no wait,...it was the SECOND freaking time I forgot to go see Guide and Doc and didn't realize it until I got to the hotel in Pripyat. Fortunately by the 2nd time I had learned of and partly mastered the gun jam trick to open doors, so I was able to do the extended ending without backtracking. Yes, happy 4th, and I hope no one left too many empty 5ths before driving home!:barf: |
Well, my dumbest thing that I've done has to be the one when I tried to find the "Hello hello" zombie.....:uhm: It's that crazy scientist who keeps yelling "Hello hello" to you from a mile away. When I first went to that place I thought it was just another zombie mumbling some BS so I tried to find it and kill it, I spent a good half an hour finding that bastard but with no success....Then I finally went into the bunker and found out who that "zombie" actually was. I was quite pissed....:Puzzled: |
When I went to the Bar one time, I fought my way through most of the dogs, and then got the mission to kill them. So I think "alright, a few blind dogs are left, I will put this off" When I came back later, I got attacked by about 6 Psuedodogs and 3 Blind Dogs. Either that, or by getting Duty to attack you as soon as you enter the AW and refusing to keep silent about the ambush. They killed me after I took two down. Fighting 8 guys in exosuits and the same time alone is really stupid. |
I was exploring my new video editing software and suddenly found myself making these: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rnlv5kvE8ws http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ThNpHUrBfOA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D5atTwuPPVg I’m not sure if the last video is dumb enough for this thread. Please turn up the volume. |
Oh, btw, I just forgot to see Guide and Doc again after going to Pripyat for the 3rd freakin time now! What is it with that?:banghead: At least I only had to backtrack to Yantar to see Guide using the Faiake 2.3 mod. |

Buying Shadow of Chernobyl based on several years of hype. In the game itself, betting against myself that I could outrun a Whirligig. Either way, I lost hard. |
Walking right into an anomoly coz I thought it was a dust wind or something. |

If he manages to come up with something that actually fires highly concentrated bolts of electrical charges as per the actual Gauss gun I'm sure a lot more, including those into goverment surveillance jobs will take note. |
the stupidest thing i did: So im walking in garbage, when i see two of dogs. so i say to myself: "oo dog tails, they worth much!". So i shoot at them with my viper, only to find out there were about ten more dogs behind a bush and a hill. After that i have always used my binoculars to scout my targets. |
A good trick to use on mutants is to jump onto a vehicle or something high enough to keep your distance, then shoot. That way if there's more you didn't see you will be out of harm's way. Pseudo Dogs, however, require a bit better safe haven due to their jump, or fast reflexes with the gun. |
....pseudo dogs *Gets grenade launcher* there near the top of my list of things, to brutally slaughter in stalker. Anywho dumbest thing I've done. Well you know near the place where you defend the camp from bandits, all the way back there is about like uhm five or six meat chunk artifacts. I keep running straight in that area and for some reason, get sucked into a whirligig thats fifty feet off to the right of me......DAMN THEM FOR MAKING A BLACK HOLE!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
So... well, i was wandering around garbage hunting for something to kill when i hear my trusty geiger meter sound. "Oh, better turn around, eh?" I thought. But still, I walked on instinctively. And then i died. Kids: Take a rest from games after playing the same game for 16 hours straight or you'll walk into radiation and die. |
Well... First time I tried it out with my first character, which I had planned to play the entire game with, I blew the brains out of every wounded STALKER who was a loner or in a friendly faction. "I need the medkits better than they do. I'll be doing them a favour anyway." I though. Woe me, I was so wrong. When I wanted to return to Cordon to sell off some goods I had found... well... they weren't too happy with me -.- Turns out being a bloodthirsty psychopath just won't do in the Zone ;) |
I’ve made another video from the Zone: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UEnQLEgO0ZY This time it’s surely dumb enough for this thread. Please turn up the volume. |
mickey mutant that was realy good ;) you gotta make more things like that. well the most stupid thing i have done is try to destroy that military place on the first level ( forgot what its called) withn noting more then a sawn off. it failed big time :( |
That was funny Mickey, another good one there. I couldn't help but think the green laser pulse rifle from the HL2 Redux mod and a mock saucer could have rounded out the Green Goblin theme so nicely. |
Stalker jumps to the ending: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7pEoigy274c I think it’s at least a little dumb to skip the final chapter. Definitely not OT. |

Well, I'd have to say one of the dumbest things I've ever done is go and see how powerful that Electro is in NPP, ya know, the one off to the right that kills the Mi-24 Hind... Yeah, didn't even make it over there, the giant Wirlygig wouldn't let me go. |

The standard method is to take the Gauss Rifle, walk as close to the door as possible, sight in, then hit your Drop Weapon button. What should happen is the size of the model for the Gauss Rifle should gut stuck in the door, and start 'sawing' at it. After a few seconds it should burst open, walk in and grab your Gauss Rifle by the barrel sticking through the door and continue on. I have found other ways of using it, such as throwing a regular assault rifle between the hinges of the door to pop it open, then wedging my self through the small opening, but that may not work without increasing the actor's mass, yet to test it. But the Gauss Rifle trick is tried and true and always works after a few tries. |

well anyways the dumbest thing i've done in stalker would be Trying to just charge in and kill the bandits the first time i played...figured out that doesn't work to well pretty fast. |
I'm not too sure what the most stupid thing i have done is, i can't choose between all 38 of them lol. One of them was trying what happens if you add 5 0s to jump power in actor.ltx (600000). I went up and up and up. I should of made impact resistance to 0.0 though, which i forgot... I tried to kill a bloodsucker with a knife, i also tried to storm the freedom base with a knife, which i got really bored and thought would be funny. Got killed at the gates lol. Snipers V Knife, Snipers always win unless you're ontop of them. I don't like going off topic but someone could make a mod where you are a stealth expert and you get money for killing people with knives and stuff. LOL The other most stupid thing was running without armour on through the minefield at the Cordon. I done 4 lengths with my eyes closed and got hit on the way for my 5th :( Oh well, this was fun, Nzambi |
I only did one dumbass thing in STALKER, and it's pretty amusing when I think about it. So I was in the middle of the game ( I can't remember which area I was in) and I saw a Military STALKER. I wanted to see what would happen if someone walks into a Whirligig ( I saw one in the map a few minutes ago) so I decided to lure him into the Whirligig. So yeah, he was tossed and mangled and stuff. While I was observing him, a fucking Snork starts running up to me. In my sudden surprise and shock, I stupidly ran into the Whirligig and died. :( |
Once in a blue moon one just lifts you up real high instead of killing you, it's quite a thrill. Someone ought to do a mod where the vortexes just boost you real high and you land without damage. You could then use them like Quake jump pads! Wait a minute,...I see some serious parallels here, there are quakes in STALKER too! Maybe you could have random blowouts that bring forth "Quake Time". Everytime one hits the vortexes become Quake jump pads for several minutes. Maybe even have some portals hanging in mid air for those skill jumps. |
i got a bit carried away knifing wooden crates and i knifed a gas canister and blew myself up:( lol |
also, i got really far on the game then decided to save it.......but i accidently clicked load..noooooo:eek: |
dumbest thing? Well when you first start the game, one of your first major tasks is to go get the documents from the military right? Everyone in the game told me that I had to go through the garbage to get there. By garbage, I thought they meant the huge heap of irradiated trash a few hundred meters left (when you are coming out of it) of the bunker where you first start the game. For a day or two I was trying my hardest to jump over the fence in the back of the big trash heap to "get through the garbage and go to the agroprom research institute". Then I figured out how to use a map. |
I didn't do anything much during the first play but now i've restarted, just yesterday I ran straight into a military patroll of around 7-10 men, I should have scouted the area first=p |
HA HA HA.. thank you omen, it be the second time I went to pripyat without speaking to DOC and I love you, thank you thank you thankyou. I can open the door by magic almost. Yep I also sold most of the unique weapons first time through as well. And I knifed a barrel, havent tried dumping them on a fire though sounds cool. But the number One most retarded thing I did was in wild territories, jumped off the tower block and landed severely wounded in a concrete pipe. stuck, completely. |
Need to Feed Loaded the game and didn't bother to read the instruction so im running and killing, didn't know I had to find food and all the other goodies.:banghead: |
get all the way to pripyat and load a different mod forgetting i can't use old saves. |
Lmfao! |
Hard pressed to figure the "dumbest" thing I ever did (there have certainly been many that would have looked dumb to an outside observer)... Dumbest thing in the cordon (thinking I was playing it smart): Undertaking the quest from Wolf to clear out the wild boar lair across the road. A few of my rounds flew high and plinked a little too close to some soldiers who were patrolling the road nearby. My mistake was in thinking that they were alone and trying to fight them off with only a silenced pistol and 50 extra rounds. To vindicate myself, I tried this scenario again... This time deliberately riling up the armed patrol. Instead of making a stand there I retreated immediately to seek refuge within the cordon village, which was populated by some 18 stalkers at the time. After several minutes of near continuous gunfire and plenty of yelling, all goes quiet and I decide to rearm myself and do a body count. Total dead: 17 stalkers, 3 soldiers. Thinking I needed a friend, I threw a medkit down to the last wounded stalker, which immediately revived him. Some friend. He freaks out and starts yelling and firing at the bush where he believed there was an enemy. One of his shots goes wild and flies up over the ridge... plinking a bit too close to the squad of reinforcement soldiers that are patrolling the road nearby. Ended very poorly for your humble narrator. |
@MickeyMutant I just have to say that your vids are some of the most creative and entertaining that can be found concerning the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game. Thanks for posting the links... I enjoyed them muchly. |
if u count playin hide and seek with pseudodogs dumb :) then im all over it never leave garbage! without playin with the forest's dogs *thumbs up* |
Another dumb jokes from the Zone. Turn music on please. YouTube - Debate on Radiation YouTube - Stalker, roll out the barrel |
Hmm...tossing a grenade that clunked down next to the guy that says "Don't stand there, come on in" without realising that, yes, he can use his weapon when you can't, and no, he can't follow you out. |
@dannyboy Oooh, I know the feeling....I was at the sacrophogus last time. |
I have to update. I been using man-bags (dragging a dead body) to transport heavy items to stash locations a lot lately but left an exo, about 20 rifles, 40 medkits in a body to go mutant hunting and through all the bad luck in the world dogs dragged it into a whirlygig. ALL GONE. as if never existed. advice, keep an eye on your man-bag. |
Stupidest thing i ever did was when i was modding marked one's jump properties. I put jumping from 0.3 to 99.3 . But i forgot to turn off impact damage. So when i jumped i went so high i couldn't see the village, died when i hit the ground, and bounced a good way back up. |
Starting a war in the bar area including in the bar. Needless to say after cleaning out Duty I still coudn't get in the bar. Ya I also have the super F1 v1.4 mod, was up on a rock surrounded by dogs and decided to be lazy and instead of shooting them all, totally forgot and tossed a nade. Game Over |
here's a new one, healed serity in the warehouse at garbage while i had a weapon drawn, instead of clicking on ok i accidently shot him once causing all the other stalkers to turn on me, this was on master too so i had 8 stalkers and about 15 bandits chasing me around the train yard. oopsy. killed em all though. |
i dont know if u guys ever got into a gang fight in BAR but the strangest thing is when i loaded into the map and walked to the entrance the guards were gone and i could hear gunshots and shouting.... switched on my PDA to see LOTS AND LOTS of loners as enemies and Duty fighting them.... some loners were wearing suits which looked almost the same color from a distance and i shot down that dutyer..... and i lost the trust of my only allies in the gangfight..... before i knew it i accidentally ran in the arena entrance and dead end..... 5 dutyers surrounded the area... |
I must say, the dumbest thing I ever done was takin' on the army checkpoint at the bridge in cordon with nothin but a pistol an' a whole lot of balls... I emerged victorious though!:daddy: |

I guess the dumbest thing I ever did was be the bad guy and kill everyone I could. As soon as I had enough medkits I slaughtered Wolf and his newb hanging around the level start, then just killed everyone. I found that this impacted the storyline to a small extent, but not as much as I had thought it would. The only downside to this is patching my armor, having 30+ medkits on me at all times, and plenty of ammo. I was using a few mods so some of those effects were to a lesser degree, but the game was still a lot of fun to play. It was dumb though, because I missed out on all the side missions, and I always had to watch my step wherever I went. |
Bloodsucker I was just about to get around the tower in the "Wild ter" Backing away from Bandits and bump right into a Invisible bloodsucker. Jumped out of my skin  and let the bad guys know ":cya:Hay im here come kill me" not so good on stelth:rolleyes: My first time in Master... |
i have the X-46 Advanced Battlearmor MOD and i guess at some point i ran off the map and back on... and saved... and now i am bleeding all over the place, my sprint is broken because i am bleedin and a walkin radioactive rod... i have back saves but they are from LONG ago... i have got 3.5 Million RU and have done over 3000 quests... yeah... its a fun game. |
