Fortunately by the 2nd time I had learned of and partly mastered the gun jam trick to open doors, so I was able to do the extended ending without backtracking.
Well, the trick is to throw a gun into the door that causes a physics glitch to tear the door open.
The standard method is to take the Gauss Rifle, walk as close to the door as possible, sight in, then hit your Drop Weapon button.
What should happen is the size of the model for the Gauss Rifle should gut stuck in the door, and start 'sawing' at it. After a few seconds it should burst open, walk in and grab your Gauss Rifle by the barrel sticking through the door and continue on.
I have found other ways of using it, such as throwing a regular assault rifle between the hinges of the door to pop it open, then wedging my self through the small opening, but that may not work without increasing the actor's mass, yet to test it. But the Gauss Rifle trick is tried and true and always works after a few tries.
So... well, i was wandering around garbage hunting for something to kill when i hear my trusty geiger meter sound. "Oh, better turn around, eh?" I thought. But still, I walked on instinctively. And then i died.
Kids: Take a rest from games after playing the same game for 16 hours straight or you'll walk into radiation and die.
I'm 15, but i never take breaks :-P I live for gaming woo!, well okay i guess i'm taking a break now...but just to read about games lol
well anyways the dumbest thing i've done in stalker would be
Trying to just charge in and kill the bandits the first time i played...figured out that doesn't work to well pretty fast.
I'm not too sure what the most stupid thing i have done is, i can't choose between all 38 of them lol.
One of them was trying what happens if you add 5 0s to jump power in actor.ltx (600000). I went up and up and up. I should of made impact resistance to 0.0 though, which i forgot...
I tried to kill a bloodsucker with a knife, i also tried to storm the freedom base with a knife, which i got really bored and thought would be funny. Got killed at the gates lol. Snipers V Knife, Snipers always win unless you're ontop of them.
I don't like going off topic but someone could make a mod where you are a stealth expert and you get money for killing people with knives and stuff. LOL
The other most stupid thing was running without armour on through the minefield at the Cordon. I done 4 lengths with my eyes closed and got hit on the way for my 5th
Oh well, this was fun,
Nzambi
I only did one dumbass thing in STALKER, and it's pretty amusing when I think about it. So I was in the middle of the game ( I can't remember which area I was in) and I saw a Military STALKER. I wanted to see what would happen if someone walks into a Whirligig ( I saw one in the map a few minutes ago) so I decided to lure him into the Whirligig. So yeah, he was tossed and mangled and stuff. While I was observing him, a fucking Snork starts running up to me. In my sudden surprise and shock, I stupidly ran into the Whirligig and died.
Once in a blue moon one just lifts you up real high instead of killing you, it's quite a thrill. Someone ought to do a mod where the vortexes just boost you real high and you land without damage. You could then use them like Quake jump pads!
Wait a minute,...I see some serious parallels here, there are quakes in STALKER too! Maybe you could have random blowouts that bring forth "Quake Time". Everytime one hits the vortexes become Quake jump pads for several minutes. Maybe even have some portals hanging in mid air for those skill jumps.
dumbest thing?
Well when you first start the game, one of your first major tasks is to go get the documents from the military right?
Everyone in the game told me that I had to go through the garbage to get there. By garbage, I thought they meant the huge heap of irradiated trash a few hundred meters left (when you are coming out of it) of the bunker where you first start the game. For a day or two I was trying my hardest to jump over the fence in the back of the big trash heap to "get through the garbage and go to the agroprom research institute". Then I figured out how to use a map.
