Sorry buddy, I havent been here in a LOOONG time lol. Those specs would run the game pretty dang good. Maybe not ALL THE WY MAXED OUT. But pretty close and would look very nice. Try to get atleast a 7600 graphics card. They arent that much more and give a bigger bang for the buck!!!

I know this is a tad off topic, but ive tried those steps and i only got an FPS increase of about 4-7 than usual. Maybe its the mods i use...

Anywho, can anyone recommend a new CPU for around £70-100. My current is a Intel Pentium 4 3.00 GHz. Its paired with 1024mb, and a NVidia GeForce 7600 GT. I could played the game on pretty much full, high dynam settings, but suddenly the specs slopped for no reason (no mod additions or system changes). Im thinking my CPU just decided that it hates me and would like to retire. Any ideas?

But now im on a trip and i have only this computer with me: Sempron64 3000, 512mb ram ddr 400 and radeon 9250 128mb. Chipset is nForce3 with windows xp pro sp2. Will the game work on this?

Good tips on cooling down the GPU , but what is really the biggest problem is the CPU temperature.

My system never runs anywhere near 65 C. , but it may reach 50 C. on the CPU. My solution was to hook my CPU fan up to the "unit" fan leads on the motherboard. This also , doesn't require any adjustment in the bios and produces 1000rpm's more cooling directly onto the CPU where it matters most.

The small fans don't even heat up as a result and in fact the small fans begin to produce cool air , instead of the stale "humid" air at 3400rpm's. They then run at 4400rpm's. According to my temperature and fan speed monitor.

One other thing about the pagefile being a certain size , I adjusted mine to allow Windows to adjust the pagefile automatically , using the option available in XP , and that got rid of the bugs.

well to be honest, the tru way of getting your system to go faster is to upgrade the hardware and get liquid cooling instead of fans.if you want to keep the hardware your running now then get a liquid cooling system and overclock the system.atleast this way the liquid cooling will keep the system 20 times cooler then the triditional fan & heatsink.

Acer Aspire 6920G Class 1 Series

-2.1 GHz Centrino Duo T8100
-16˝ HD Widescreen
-GeForce 9500M GS with 512mb GDDR3
-4Gb of system RAM
-320Gb HDD

Getting to run STALKER in widescreen with some glitching on Vista,
average is 30-40 FPS with a lot of fireworks around. Most stuff set on high.

Make yourself some priorities;
if you like (like me...) to see far away, set distance to maximum, lower something else etc... Most modern games require hardware that cannot satisfy the engine power reqs... And it will get worse.

I always tried the technique you mentioned with new games I get, the one with starting the settings on low or medium and going up from there. Stalker runs ok on medium. I had Stalker a year ago and with the settings on medium and it ran smooth, but I just got it again recently, and noticed it laggs sometimes in heavy firefights, which can be annoying, but when I had the game a year ago I never had any problems with it. I cleaned up my laptop, like defrag, disk cleanup, and taking off stuff I dont need or use anymore, which cleared up alot of space especially after getting rid of WoW, which took up 8.49G's! (I dont play it anymore).
