If you take it anyway, there's always a reason why help is not coming. When starting out as a Freedom member, try not to run ahead. Instead, try to protect the squads from Dark Valley and see them safe as far as possible. If you "lose" the squads, you are in trouble. The attack squads that are going for the Duty HQ are often sent not from Dark Valley, but from Military Warehouses, and for some reason they feel that the Flea Market is blocking them. Ask the guards at the gate to MW if he want help, and if they do not want you to take out the Flea Market, do it anyway. Squads may also be blocked by mutants or be at a point where they are blocked by some neutral squad, like the Loners. They will stand there pointing guns at each other forever, but can't shoot, as they are neutrals. In such instances you have to take out the neutral squad to have your own squad moving.
As soon as Freedom has two squads at Barricades, one of the squad leaders will ask you to go for Agroprom. Do that and protect the squad that will follow you! Then everything should be moving.
It's impossible to describe in detail how the Freedom do their warfare, as much depends on the situation when you join. Just remember that the faction wars are often very complicated and can take several days to complete. Use your PDA map to study what is going on all the time.
