Default "X-ray 1.6 engine"-crash.

Ok, I Have S.T.A.L.K.E.R. CoP on STEAM and it works fine with no mods or such. So I install the S.M.R.T.E.R mods. Or at least the 6 of them I know about.

Yes, fsgame -> $game_data$ = true| true| $fs_root$| gamedata\

As soon as the very first loading apperars I get the; "X-ray 1.6 engine has stopped working"-error, and as you may guess, the game shuts down.

sounds like you didn't install the fix for the weapons addon. Also the weapons addon might not be compatible with the absolute scopes and i cannot guarantee stability of the mod when voron spawn menu is used.

F this. Crashed with only the v4.1 installed.. Then I only have to suppose it's STEAM that raped this fine game. I'll tear this house appart until I find my CD for this game..

Here's the log, maybe if you got time once, you may solve the problem for the STEAM user, for it's sure not only me that got this problem..

first of all, delete wpn_gauss.seq and wpn_gaush.seq in gamedata/textures/wpn/
this will not solve the problem but you'll get all those
! Can't find texture 'wpn\gauss\wpn_gauss_...
out of the log. (and also get the gauss texture to show properly)
Secondly, the log states that it cannot find the savegame you've been trying to load, check the given Folder to see if it exists at all (c:\program files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\stalker call of pripyat\_appdata_\savedgames\stalker call of pripyat.scop)
last but not least, since you removed parts of the mods you had installed, old saves will not work anymore so you'll have to start a new game (you will always have to do that after removing/changing mods, because certain sections of the files will be stored within the savegame and if the engine doesn't find those sections upon loading, it will crash).

Ok, I removed the wpn files, didn't know what you ment with make it show propertly, so I did nothing with that.
I found a couple of savegames for the very start of the game, and i removed both of them.
You see, I can't even get to the menu as the game crashes at the very first loading, so I don't get the chanse to even start a new game..

Here is the log, but if you want to, then just give a f about it. I will understand if you're sick of this. STEAM really raped this game. I've even bought a new copy on the internet:P

that's the only important part, no need to post the full log all the time.
If i remember correctly, steam creates 2 folders with savegames/settings in different locations so you might want to check if there is another folder containing aforementioned savegame and delete it as well.
If you're running vista that could be another issue, as the program files folder is write protected by the OS which can be very annoying on some systems.
Oh and afaik steam has a function to check the downloaded games for consistency errors, it's probably a good idea to check for corrupted files.

I have windows 7..
As far as I know this only happens if i have any gamedata folder.. And I wont play stalker without mods, that wouldnt be any fun at all..
I couldn't find any second place for savegames, but searching for information on the net, I found some intresting stuff. Grand noob as I am, I wont fool around and rather let someone like you who really understand this cryptic stuff..

"Sorry for the double post, but I figured it out.

For mods, create a gamedata folder in your stalker directory. Using the stalker data unpacker tool, extract all the .db (example .db1 .db2 .dba .dbb .dbc) files into that folder. Now you can install mods into the gamedata folder.

For trainers, replace the regular XR_3DA.exe with a noDVD fix .exe, and voila.

I now have a Steam version of Stalker identical to the retail version. "

With no gamedata and the changed the fsgame to false true this happened..
