startup problem (realtek related?)

been having some BSOD problems which i'm fairly sure relate to my realtek HD audio drivers, and whilst removing old drivers and installing new (2.29), i seem to have gotten into a position where the clear sky splash screen will pop up, and thats it! it just sits there, with "xrengine.exe" showing cpu usage going up and down between 47-50% and memory usage at different levels roughly around the 20,000 k mark.

any ideas? or info you need me to provide?
