How do I enable wet surfaces? Thats right, Everything in my damn options/video/advanced is set to HIGH and has the sliders fully maxed, but I can not turn on volumetric smoke (don't care bout smoke) or wet surfaces - why can't I turn on wet surfaces? Its blued out, instead of yellowish or Lit Up. Cant' click it Now why not? Hear this, when I play crysis (I have DX9 and windows XP) I use edited configs that enable the amazingness of DX10 textures/shaders etc. I'm talking realistic flames and smoke, particle effects, its all there, EVEN - WET SURFACES!!!!! I never noticed that one til the last level on the carrier - each raindrop had its own drop, and water would run down the surface of everything- EVERYTHING! (and it looked better IMO compared to CS wet surfaces videos) And I had 45 FPS on that ship on the last level... with all settings on extreme max high DX10 shaders etc. So I expect some QUALITY of graphics out of CS - and the game needs to stutter less.. (like every time I open inventory or search loot/corpse 1 second delay) |
Re: How do I enable wet surfaces? so it means your graphic cards cant handle the game or its f*cked up well. |
Re: How do I enable wet surfaces? Its the game :) I got XFX 9800 GTX Black Edition - EAT THAT ATIRadeon HD 4870 X2 (the ATI can't handle Crysis as well as my GTX |
Re: How do I enable wet surfaces? were is the loot ??? dx10 for the xp dx10 card owners did vista steal it?:moon: i could play crysis and enable dx10 on xp dx10 card with playable fps? |
Re: How do I enable wet surfaces? Those are considered by the game to be DX10 only features, that's why they're greyed out in XP. Dunno whether they can be turned on via config, but I'd be keen to hear whether that's possible. |
Re: How do I enable wet surfaces? I saw nothing of turning it on for XP in tweakguides and Clear Sky tweak files~ So, Until the modders fiddle with it, we're SoL |
Re: How do I enable wet surfaces? All that's needed to enable it was turn it on through the USER.LTX file. |
Re: How do I enable wet surfaces? Just did that... gonna have to do a rain dance to test it out. |
Re: How do I enable wet surfaces? So did you get soaked?? And I want pics of wet t-shirts NAO!!! And also how do you turn on objects dynamic lighting on manually in the game?? I can run DX10 fine but whenever I try to use objects dynamic lighting it crashes on startup and gives me a message that I must have a card with version 1.1 pixel shader or above WTF I HAVE A FUCKING 9800GTX CARD IT'S 3.0 PIXEL YOU DUMB GAME. |
Re: How do I enable wet surfaces? i have the same problem pixel shader 1.1 error ....i got the dx10 features on via the user LTX file ... i need to know what options in the video setting enabe those dx10 shaders .....like ummm resolution settings to enable the wet surfaces? my game crashes with pixel error above 1325 ? the SSAO settings? ..i heard if you over medium it crashes with the pixel shader error aswell. need to know all the qualitys setting sliders that enable the dx10 effects i heard that the game is missing key textures for the water that streams down the walls ...and some dx10 users are trying to enable then on some forums? something about lines instead of water. i been trying alot of stuff even posted the 1.1 pixel error on the ati tech forum waiting for help for 2 days no replys yet? basic game video settings maximum it also crashes with pixel error 1.1 my card is these specs: ATI RADEON™ X1950 PRO core (580MHz) 512MB GDDR3 onboard memory (1400MHz) Windows Vista™ 3D environment Support 36 pixel shader processors 256-bit Memory Bus AGP 8x Pixel Shader Version 3.0 Video Acceleration of: MPEG-2, MPEG-4, DivX, WMV9, VC-1, and H.264 Dual DVI Tv-Out i dont understand why ether it says pixel shaders 3.0 ?? maybe something else is not allowing me to enable wet surfaces and fog effects??? ALSO mite add this info :Pixel shader 1.1 is supported on DX8 cards ??? taken from web? is this true? |
Re: How do I enable wet surfaces? Wet surfaces is enabled and I'm using the Better Lighting and FPS / DoF and in the user.ltx its enabled, but in game - I see the regular crappy raindrops. My video card has higher shader model support than 3 (definitely 4 or higher, checked my card out online after reading through the manual that you need at least level 3 shader support to see wet surfaces) |
Re: How do I enable wet surfaces? ON the back of the box it says * - for the DirectX® 10 effects Windows Vista and DirectX® 10 compatible video card are required it doesn't say a pixel shader 1.1 ......old dx8 cards have it ? WTF? is going on BUG? or its micosoft telling us stay out ?:moon:bill gates |
Re: How do I enable wet surfaces? I wish abadonator and atrocious was here.... They always have the magic fix... |
Re: How do I enable wet surfaces? i got this user LTX file that runs dx10 and i copyed it ....and tryed it in my folder and i was able to unlock the extreme mode with highest settings and no pixel Re: How do I enable wet surfaces? crap that dont work ether pixel shader 1.1 still at error hummmmm? ill try it different one high setting with lower res ...anyway back to work:beer: sorry guys that one dx10 user LTX file has static lighting before i enabled enhanced lighting and restarted game to reset the settings and got the same pixel error ? but static lighting works maximum every thing high |
Re: How do I enable wet surfaces? don't you guys just get it that game checks your windows while start, and if you have tried tweaking user.ltx to use dx10, it just puts it to static lightning. i've got dx10 compatible card too but win xp sucks the thing. peace |
Re: How do I enable wet surfaces? I'd like to point out that forcing Wet Surfaces under Dx9 doesn't work. I've tried it myself while attempting to maximize performance. It keeps the same old rain splatter. |
Re: How do I enable wet surfaces? You guys do realize that you actually need to have directX 10 installed to use directX 10 functions? As far as I knew directX 10 = vista only. |

I have DX9 and I'm using DX10 shaders/textures etc. on Crysis... all enabled by changing values in a config file..... I got a few hundred screenies :) Every once in a while I go through and save/move the coolest ones |
Re: How do I enable wet surfaces? Quote:
Crysis is a whole different boat. Everything they said was DX10 only in Crysis is doable in DX9. Dynamic wet surfaces and Volumetric smoke are DX10 only. If these things were present in Crysis they wouldn't be doable in in DX9 like the other settings were. it all has to do with how the game engine renders teh content and for the X-ray engine to use those features it needs to use the DX10 architecture, which is something that just is not present on a system that isn't running Vista with DX10 installed. If i am wrong, please correct me. This is how I understand it to work. |
BlackSite: Area 51 on Flickr - Photo Sharing! CLICK pic link blacksite wet surfaces i have seen wet surfaces on BlackSite: Area 51 dx9 is able to do that wax shine look on the ground.. i have enough credit to buy a alienware computer ...with vista ..but i wont not till a usable operating system comes out that can do it better than xp. skip vista when support drops for xp ...probelly go to consel gaming least the games dont requier patches and upgrades to play a feature thats already possible:rofl::lol: bill gates wants you to pay for extra effects ! link with volumetric : Half-Life 2 (DirectX 10), the game may run faster than anything you'll see on a DX9 part but won't look any better...:p volumetic debate info link:bit-tech.net | Review - Hellgate: London |

Re: How do I enable wet surfaces? Guys, quit your bitching now... |
Re: How do I enable wet surfaces? I just realized that you do not get dx-10 unless you set your video settings to ultra high. Now that I have, it is amazing. You cannot believe the difference until you are actually inside the game (pics don't really show the better quality). I have yet to see any lag, also. |
