* game freezes. w h y ? *
 

so i've been playing RTCW again lately after several months of not laying a single finger on it. for some reason, the game *always* freezes up somewhere when i'm close to finishing the very first map and i have no alternative choice but to cold-boot my computer. :mad:

I dont know why this could be. possibly due to somekind of interence from other additional maps i have maybe?

if anyone has any suggestions i would greatly appreciate it.

that dose not sound right ! it depends if u got the computer thats fast enought for the game ! maybe if u upgrade the drivers and the os and shit u mite have a chance ! or get the update it from the web and try it that way ! or just fuck around with the options or some thing ! some times if u get a shit load o bad guys it will frzze up on u ! if those dosnt work i dont know what to do after that ! but if u download it from kazza or some thing ( the pirited copy ) some time u can get that to work ! maybe this will help maybe this whont but thats all i can think of !

Has the game been installed the entire time you weren't playing it? If so, you might want to do a fresh install.

some thing i do if dramma,s start:mad: is uninstall the whole lot and start fresh,as then you know its all new cfg,s ..ps i would be interested in your sytem your running on this pc ? eg .amd athlon 2800


are you running dial up or adsl ?

and was it doing it last time you played rtcw ???

do you run ase ... all seeing eye ? udpsoft.com/ that as you will probably already know finds servers in your country ...and has an anty lag tick box ..canceling all laggy servers out ;)

hey everyone, just wanted to say that i simply messed around with the general video options from the game's main menu, played a few quick games and now everything plays wonderfully fine!

what i'm thinking it was - is just a small complication i had with the new video card i put in a little while back [Nvidia Ge4]. as i mentioned before i havent really played the game since maybe november.

and for anyone who wanted to know, heres my system specs (from what i know off the top of my head) -

Windows XP service pak 1b
Pentium 4 processor
5 Ghz with 800 MB of RAM
Nvidia Ge4 Ti
Soundblaster Audigy 2.

:( i seem to have a similar problem...i was playing wolf fine for bout a year(bani),then i wanted to play doom 3 so i upgraded my graphics card(256MB ATI Sapphire Radeon 9800XT DD) to cope with the game,however this caused major problems so i had to format my pc.....bad move as i not only lost all my maps and patches etc. i also brought to life a very nasty virus which was sitting dormant on my h/drive(y.t.f. do these peeps do this..grrrrr)anyway i started to go through the process of why my p.c. was playing up..got a new power pack to cope with greedy graph card.....ran a more intense format and finally got rid of the virus..started installing all games/software etc..n everything was ok..doom 3 played ok..no probs accessing internet..but for some reason i could not play wolf online..waiting for master server..to get round this i typed /connect ..etc to our clan server and it let me in(this also rectified the internet server list) however as soon as map loaded the screen freezez.i cant even esc.it ,i literally have to turn it off at the back which i hate doing! this also happens on any other server i go to inc.et ones, im pretty much a noOoOob when it comes to computers,so if any one can help or has similar experience any tips much appreciated!!!!!!

Your problem is that the latest version of the ATI drivers are incomapatible with the current version of punkbuster. Roll back to version 4.9 of the graphics driver, apply the latest patch to it and you'll be fine.

i will look out for ya pal!! and yes its my game tag..although it would normally appear as +>V<+:Vesp@: our clan tag,ive not played wildwest yet so i will get necessary maps/patches..etc and i will hunt ya..lol thnx again matey!
