Hi ppl
My first visit and post here....hope you can help, here goes
Installed game, cd key etc...no probs but as soon as I try to start the game the console starts, then the grey screen and then nothing. After a little fiddling minimising screens I can see the console again but with an error in the top pane which says:
recursive error:^3menu File not found: ui/ingame.text, using default
Also an error in main pane which says :
file ui/mods.menu, line 1: file ui/menudef.h not found
Tried installing several times but to no avail :/
Any help would be much appreciated
Thnx
My pc specs are:
Win xp sp 1
Msi kt3 ultra 2
Athlon xp 2.4 (1.8)
Maxtor 80 gig
512 meg ddr2700
Cable conn
Msi GeForce 4 Ti4200
If it wont work after uninstall\patches, then i dont have any idea about what you should do (i havent got any errors in RTCW, but in ET i have recheived funny errors, like: "Unpure PK3.file detected: ETConfig.cfg" and so on =D)
"There are no desperate situations, there are only desperate people."
"A Wizard is never late, nor is he early. He arrives precisely when he means to."
Money is rubbish, rubbish is shite, but the shite doesn´t seem to be never ending.
Thanks for the quick response
I reinstalled game (4th time grrrrr) and game seems to work, I d/l those patches anyway and when I tried to run 1.4 it says there is no RTCW installed !!!!!
Then tried the 1.41..same.
Btw, I have the Platinum version which has ET on too...does it make a diff?
I have ET installed anyway (on a different drive) as a standalone...that plays ok.
Thnx.
Also here is what activision says about the grey screen if you are still getting it...
Quote:
Set the Virtual memory to a fixed size.
1) Right-click on the My Computer icon and select Properties.
2) Click on the Performance tab and click the Virtual Memory button.
3) Select Let me specify my own virtual memory settings.
4) Set the minimum and maximum size to 512MB minus your physical RAM size. So that if you have 128MB of RAM then your min and max size would be 384MB.
This may be the game searching for an auto-update if it is occurring after the 1.3 patch. If this is the case, it will eventually launch. Also, if this is what is causing the delay, you may want to turn off auto-update.
1) Bring down the console by pressing the Tilde " ~ " key in the game and type:
/cl_autoupdate 0 (press the Enter key)
2) If you never are able to get into the game, you should be able to enter this into the config file for multiplayer (wolfconfig_mp.cfg) in the Return to Castle Wolfenstein\Main folder, but it would take the form:
seta cl_AutoUpdate "0"
