"The company is currently working on a new game based on the 'Wolfenstein' series, and with newer motion-capture technology, it is working with a local actress to be the character in its movie." The article also mentions this actress' face will be used as the face of her character, "an elite force assassin." The other detail about the game project comes near the end: "The game won't come out until sometime in 2008, but the name and many other details about it are being kept secret, which is just one clue at how competitive this industry has become."

The TBA beneath id's name might be their new IP. It sure as hell better not be ET:QW. I also think that I heard that Activision's booth is going to be next to id's booth. Hopefully, will have a huge blow out of id's games at this year's E3. I want to see their new IP and Wolfenstein. Let's hope they don't disappoint. It's time to prove all those damn naysayers wrong and show them that id can still make great games and can still make the best graphics engines around.

Anyways, E3 is right upcoming here, and I too hope they have RTCW II or their promised new franchise to show off.

Well, pretty much since Doom 3 was first released, people have been slamming id right and left. A lot of people have lost faith in id because they thought Doom 3 was disappointment and that the Doom 3 engine was a crappy engine. I still haven't lost faith because I thoroughly enjoyed Doom 3, and I know that the Doom 3 engine is, in fact, a fantastic graphics engine.

I hope that id has a huge blow out with their games and shows off some really sweet games and technology. I hope they show up all those naysayers who keep bad mouthing them.

I think the main reason behind the disliking of the Doom 3 engine is that it's a real powerhouse... as in, it took a more technologically advanced system to run it smoothly. Half-Life 2 was released around the same time as Doom 3, and used the Source engine, which has been known to run extremely well on older PCs.

I don't think it was really that. People kept complaining that the Doom 3 engine couldn't do bright environments or that it couldn't do outdoor levels. They were obviously wrong because...well...just look at Quake Wars. They also thought it couldn't render a lot of characters on screen at once. They were all just a bunch of ignorant idiots spouting out crap they knew nothing about.

I think that it was mainly because of hardware limitations that Doom3 didn't have bright environments, lots of massive outdoor levels, and tons of characters on the screen at once.

It also was probably just a pure a game design decision to make Doom 3 like the way it was. The devs at id wanted to make Doom 3 a scary and tense experience, so they built the engine around what they wanted Doom 3 to be like. They wanted Doom 3 to be a dark and claustrophobic scare fest.

Anyway, the point is, the naysayers were obviously wrong about all the things they said about the Doom 3 engine. It turned out to be a very great engine that could do everything that the other engines like the SOURCE engine could do and do them even better.
