OMG. I can just see it, he says over the phone while playing with Legos ... "Yea, we need to work on that. We can't be depending on Roger Wilco anymore. We need better teamwork before the clan match."

LMAO LMAO LMAO

Hey kid, seriously, this game is too mature in subject natter for you. But I'm not your parent, so what the hey. I'll say this. You got an early start. Maybe by the time you're 20 you will be competition for me and my buds. LMAO

41 yrs young, and a proud member for life in the Old Farts Quake Clan.

"Membership is easy: if you're over 35 and take every opportunity to insult teenage opponents and mock they're "superior" reflexes, you're an OLD FART in good standing."

Well, Robet's site is getting old and outdated, but I cut my teeth on it for gaming, and i will always return to it.

That's amazing. It looks like even from the start the PC industry was ripping us off big time. It says 2MB of memory but capable of 16. When I got my first PC (60mhz Pentium) it came with a lowly 8MB. I got an unsolicited phone call from a salesman wanting to sell me 8MB of RAM for the low price of $640! Wow! You mean just $640? What a deal! SHEEEEEEESH. What a freaking rip off. But that was the price of RAM back in the mid 90's... just 7 yrs ago. Now you can get 512 MB for about $90 or less.

Never buy hardware when it is a new thing. Wait a year. The rip-off price will drop by 40% just because it's not the newest thing anymore.

We heard the same lies from the music industry about the price of CD's..."When more plants have been built to produce music CD's the price of them will drop because the production cost will be lower. Consumers can expect to pay about $7-10 for CD's at that time."

That's almost a direct quote from an industry spokesman that I read back in the mid 80's. THEY LIED. Music CD's are STILL over $15. The price has not dropped 1 cent since the mid 80's. The cost for production is so low it doesn't even figure into the price. It's all profits and royalties. CD's are so cheap to produce, they come in cereal boxes with kiddie programs like cartoons and silly games. Sheesh. At least it is better in the PC industry in one way... stuff is cheaper now, but when it's the newest thing, the price is gouged.

IRONMAN LIVES AGAIN!

Dark Lotus April 7th, 2003 12:47 PM

Very good points Ironman!!!! If people are willing to pay the raped price when things are band new, ( like me, sadly ) why change things? Also, if CD's droipped in price like they thought/said they would, I bet half of the mp3 downloads wouldn't be....

Also, I checked out that Quake site- Like you said, a bit out dated.... "If you're using a US Robotics modem equipped with X2 56K compression" I forgot dial-up existed... Don't get me wrong, I don't take broadband for granted....I remember 13.3 MAX...man.... hehe

DeadlySiN April 25th, 2003 09:26 PM

I'm 18. I've had RTCW for like a year and a half now. It's cool to play against older people. gives it more of a challenge to us younger players. Even though I guess I'm not considered younger.

medhonor April 26th, 2003 10:52 AM

Why a GeForce 2 on a new computer... I'm very sorry to tell you this, but I think your bought (or your parent bought) a budgetcard.
Well, I also have a 64MB ram GeForce 2 but my computer isn't brand new. And I don't spend any money on hardware because I got other hobbies. (yeah, mountainbiking!!)

apocalypse_kid May 1st, 2003 08:41 PM

I tend to aree with Big_Boss_Man,

You have a 22" flat screen monitor, athlon 2000+, 512Mb DDR etc, but a piddly GF2, your whole system is being help back by your vid card, At first I thought it might be package like you get from DELL or HP but with you 2 HDD's I doubt it. Do yourself a favour and get a full GF4 or ATI Radeon 9700 and really see what that big monitor can do!

Have fun

I have it. Buy it used if you can. For what it is, it sems very overpriced...Gary Oldman must have charged top dollar to do the voice of the hero, Sgt. Jack Barnes. SP only gives you nine levels in three Missions, and from what I hear about the MP it's not that spectacular or groundbreaking. At least there's a few SP levels in Spearhead that are absolute killers when it comes to difficulty, but alas it's all too short. The opening chute drop does rival the Omaha Beach landing in spectacle, though; and that tank duel at the very end, in the heart of Berlin, is a ton of fun.
