i feel lonly am 9 YEARS OLD

KoRn_Warrior_ December 3rd, 2002 09:48 PM

most 9 yr olds i know still like to play kickball and b-ball all the time, like my cousin lol, but i remember back in the day when i was 9 yrs old, sega genisis, sonic the hedgehog 2, and my basket ball.....thats all that mattered

Crazy how 9yr olds are playing games that are rated for 18yr olds or + but i dont mind, have fun and hope u understand its just a game....and that guy i sent dressed as h|tler was really my friend Bill and about 1,000 hobos that we hired, all dressed in old army uniforms, sorry if i scared ya

heres a pic of bill and his men at cheathunter's house.

:lookaround:

(ps: if this offended anyone, dont see why it would, but if it did, i am joking around, but if it still offends you....sorry :) )

Rathius December 4th, 2002 04:37 AM

9 years old... I was a total Half Life junkie 4 years ago...
Or it might have been Starcraft... one of those games...

cheathunter December 4th, 2002 06:18 AM

ok my dad hade ut then q3 then team arena i played them all the rtcw demo played at 9 then the game my dad got i played it too much at his house so i got it for my birthday and do you know what this meen's

cg_ParseSpawnVars: EOF without closing brace??? i need it befor thursday night

derfmanwi December 4th, 2002 09:27 AM

This is very encouraging! I'm 34 and I thought (my wife did too :) ) that I was one of the oldest gamers alive. I remember I bought an IndusGT 5 1/4" floppy drive for my Atari 800XL and it cost me $800.00.
My dad was so pi#$ed I spent that much money on a "silly computer". LOL

Rathius December 4th, 2002 02:18 PM

My uncle (he's 38) spent $1000.00 on a 20MB ISA hard drive. Yep, a hard drive that fits in an ISA slot. It looks like a regular ATA controller card, but with a big hard drive glued to the end. It's about 2 feet long!

!!Herlong!! December 4th, 2002 05:32 PM

Im 42 and my kid is 15. We play together every chance we get.

cheathunter December 4th, 2002 05:38 PM

thats nice me {9} my lil brother{5} my sister {11} and my dad {dont now} play together

KoRn_Warrior_ December 4th, 2002 06:06 PM

eh, i dont see why ppl would play a kill all ppl, holocaust, evil nazi mutant game when they are 5 or even 9. I think u need to learn the concept of the background of the game.....and raising a kid on bloody games definately doesnt have any pros to it.

Bizaro December 4th, 2002 06:11 PM

i would have to agree with korn....i have a 11 month old son. and i have a few years to wait before i have to really start worrying about this, and who know what kind of game we will have then....but anyway..i wouldn't let my 9 to 11 year old kid play rtcw....i can't say its a game for just adults because of there are alot of 15 to 17 year olds who play and understand its just a game and kinda know the history of ww2...i guess its just the fact that the whole game is basically about blowin other people apart..and its pretty gruesome at that...ok...my 2 cents are used up...i am 25 years old

apocalypse_kid December 4th, 2002 07:11 PM

Hi all,

Me here. I would say that 30's is probably the average age for gamers considering that many ppl I know play games who are that age yet never even think about getting into the online forums. It may be that the number of younger ppl in online forums is higher than average so we get a skewed idea of ages.

Games have been around longer than the online forums so many older ppl started playing games when they were kids and still play but don't use the forums, but kids just starting out are more adventurous and are more likely to hit the forums.

Just my thoughts

madmanfrommars December 4th, 2002 07:49 PM

I'm 15. My parents don't allow me to have M rated games. They don't know RTCW is M rated:D

Seriously, I personally don't see the big deal. GTA, I can understand, but this is a computer game with a basis of WWII. The addition of blood doesn't make a difference.

Contrary to what the government says, I'm not gonna go shoot people because of this or any other game.

Bizaro December 4th, 2002 11:11 PM

 good man..uh..fro..mars...well you know who.. :D i completely agree with you...you seem like a smart guy. and i own a pretty good collection of games including gta 3 witch my kids would NEVER:mad: touch until they were 18.. but i own them...mmmmm...:smokin: i am of age and mentally fit...for the most part:deal: (got the papers to prove it too)not from the doc....anyway in gta if you have played the game in at least a little detail you can find all kind of messed up things.:lookaround: from pickin up hookers and then ****in them, if you don't believe me im me and i will show you how, to taking drugs. :naughty: that game, be it fun, SHOULD NEVER BE SOLD TO A MINOR. but thats only my opionon...and they are like bungholes...everyone has em..i got off track now...and i am spent...your right madmanfromars..rtcw isn't that bad, but its definately not a kids game..but kids will play it:rolleyes: no matter what the parents say:uhm: or do:smack: they will do what they want:moon: ....sorry for the eratic writing its really late...  :cya:

I'v been playing games most of my life and look at how I turned out :D

I used to be in to WW2. I read books about it, and watched movies.

My uncle gets me all the games. He says they're ok and my parents let me play them. My uncle is so cool. Did you know I saw BraveHeart, the completely bloody r-rated movie, when I was 6?

this "influence" of games on children is something that should be taken really serious........i dont wanna sound like some boring ass but tests have proved that alot of children that go nuts with a gun actually shoot VERY accurate thx to games!........games are becoming so real that some real gaming adicts cant see the difference between a game and reality anymore (spooks me a lill bit) even in the millitary they use a modified version of "DOOM" (LOL) to train soldiers! so think what kind of effect a game can have on somebody under the age of 10 .......... and on some ocassions of high-school shootouts they found out that the kid was a gaming addict which also axplains his accuracy.......very spooky all if you ask me.....

Rathius December 5th, 2002 11:26 AM

That's only true for certain kinds of players. If you're a nice player, giving out ammo, saying "Good Game" helping your teammates, and being friendly i would think you're less likely to kill someone in RL than if you were a crazed Panzer who doesn't care about team, complains about players, and says stuff like "ha ha you suck", don't say sorry after TKing, and only cares about how many points they get.

KoRn_Warrior_ December 5th, 2002 11:41 AM

actualy frosty, not to be rude, but as of this month they have no proof of that. Many people are studying this and all they see is brain stimulation and exitement, no urning to kill. They actually see games as a stress, or kill everyone, releaver...shooting 3d pixles instead of people. I cant say that all games are good, most arnt...but the major things that affect peoples lives are their experiences out of tv, music, etc. My friend is a pre graduate in phycology and the study of the mind, some of his project are working with music to see if it affects people. He says after many months and multiple people, there was no change....it actually made them less angry and less stressed. Always matters were you read it from, i read some news papers, and they get their facts from some researcher...that may or may not be true. But, the majority of present researchers with current technology say its nothing but a game, a stress releaver, and an escape from the world.

Playing a game and shooting a gun are 2 very different things, moving your mouse doesn't help you one bit when your shooting in real life, trust me.

thanks spider..at least one person agrees with me :)

KoRn_Warrior_ December 5th, 2002 03:17 PM

first off, bani didnt take anything from any mod....headshots mod was made after bani mod and shrub mod.....shrub mod has a headshots mode that is even better than the headshot mod itself, thats why it isnt played. Bani would be very angry at you becuz he doesnt like being called anything, and a stealer is a bad one lol. Also....ill email u a dictionary or a go back to 2nd grade free card...or go to 2nd grade free card.....i dont know what grade 9 yr olds are in these days lol.

Rathius December 5th, 2002 03:21 PM

Yes, as i'm in 8th grade and 4 years older.

Please refrain from shallow insults.

KoRn_Warrior_ December 5th, 2002 08:00 PM

dude cheathunter, just stop spamming, stop asking dumb questions and stop braggin about your fathers mod, that isnt even played any more. Just post responsibley or dont post at all, thanks.

cheathunter December 6th, 2002 06:16 AM

they got the source from my dad

Rathius December 6th, 2002 06:25 AM

Actually I thought your dads mod was pretty cool.
-=T=- wouldn't of started if it hadn't been for HeadShot Mod.
I met Turbo on a headshot server, and we started -=T=-...

[CoI]Mr.Fragwell December 6th, 2002 09:00 AM

Hey guys i think that the rule of 15 and above doesn't say anything..
I mean, that sort of rules are there to be broken and breaking THAT particulare rule is a real pleasure:dance:

KoRn_Warrior_ December 6th, 2002 03:03 PM

ok cheathunter, whats your point? your dad made a mod, that makes its so you can only hurt them by shooting them in the head, and white boxes go around when u hit them.....shrub mod has everything that your dads has, and even tho i argue that shrub mod came before headshot mod, i dont know 100%, but braggin about a mod that isnt played anymore......and that other mods add as an attribute isnt that great, thats cool ur dad made a mod, good for him, but dont brag like its a big deal. Thx

Admiral8Q December 6th, 2002 11:41 PM

Children have never been very good at listening to their elders, but they have never failed to want to be like them.
It might sound like a weird thing to say because never has a generation of children neded more protection than in this mass-media and computer age, but the truth is that many parents neglect their children and let them do whatever. We allow them freedoms in order to avoid making those impositions on them that are in the end both the training ground and proving ground for true independence.

We pronounced them strong when they were still weak in order to avoid the struggles with them that would have given them true strength later in life. We proclaim them sound when they are still stupid in order to avoid taking part in the long, slow, slogging effort that is the only path to genuine maturity of mind and feeling.

I am therefore strongly against anyone under the age of 15 to have access to these games of vivid killing because it takes an adult to realise that this is a simulation and a game, like a sport.

When I was 10 years old I watched a horror movie and had nightmares for months afterwards. I'll never allow that to happen to my kids because the trauma of it affected me so much that it still gives me old fears to remember it (even though now I watch horror flicks and laugh at how stupid they are lol)

I am 24 now and apoligize at my lengthy post but I had alot to get off my chest after reading this entire thread

Ah, but I was so much older then,
I'm younger than that now. You don't get better but different and older and that is always a pleasure.

I understand I've had many a 13 or 14 year old as friends (By the way I was that age too at some period in time  ) If childhood and youth are but vanity, it should be our ambition to become adults eh?
