Starting an ET Console from COMMAND PROMPT Hi there. Just joined your forum and have a question thats REALLY bugging me: Is there any way you can start an Enemy Territory server from just typing in a command in the command prompt or "Run" app from windows start menu?? Its just a bit long winded to go into ET everytime just to click "start server". Surely if i have the config file (server.cfg) with all my game settings in there i can type something like: "et.exe -setserver server.cfg" or something. Any help on this would be great, as I can then just set up a shortcut to launch my ET Server without loaded the game up. Regards, Clint. |
Re: Starting an ET Console from COMMAND PROMPT First, create a shortcut to ET on your desktop than right click it & go to properties. In the target line add the following after the path to ET. (I know this example is for RTCW, but should work just fine in ET.) ...wolfMP.exe" +set dedicated 2 +set net_IP 127.0.0.1 +set net_port 27960 +exec server.cfg " Also if you are running a mod such as et pro or shrub you'll need to add that line in there also. |
Re: Starting an ET Console from COMMAND PROMPT Excellent! That works a treat. Just what I needed. Now, I'm behind a hardware firewall and I know the default port for ET Server is 27960, does this mean I have to free up that port in my routers config? I have admin rights to it so i can get in and change it, but is it a UDP or TCP port I have to free up ?? Regards, Clint. |
Re: Starting an ET Console from COMMAND PROMPT If other people can't see your server than yes I would open up 27960 also I believe it's udp, but don't quote me on that one :). Anywho glad that helped you out :). |
