Sexual Repression Sexual Repression: The Malady That Considers Itself the Remedy | Psychology Today The parts about "Doctor" Kellog are quite interesting. EDIT: Here's a decent piece that generally sums up some things: http://www.libchrist.com/political/folly.html |
Re: Sexual Repression Thanks to churches, synagogues and mosques the world over, human sexuality is an evil dirty thing. Something to be shamed over, and hidden as a secret. Unless you're a little boy or girl. In those cases, it's negligible.. and ultimately determined by the attending theological representative. Where would the world be without these benign beliefs? We might see less incidents like this; Mother raped own daughter for 'sex education' |
Re: Sexual Repression Repression of any impulse, whether it be for good or ill, is never worth it. Our beings are fully autonomous and there is no force of nature, other than the secular forces of man to stop us. No lightning comes from the sky to strike us down. The conscience is best tempered by the person himself. I spoke to the militia on Dantoine and they did not want to return my lightsaber. I had to therefore prey on those who had one, because the law of Dantoine had become to rigid, too dependent on promoting the mediocre and weak. I give this as an example to explain why I think sexual repression occurs. Natural is tampered with and therefore an equally unpleasant reaction is called for. |

Speaking on Sexual Repression though, I suppose there are pro's and con's to this, though typically, we're just another creature from within the animal kingdom. Though granted, we are more civilized and sophisticated, but we're still just animals at the end of the day, and we reproduce much in the same way. The only difference between us and most animals, is that we have sex not only for reproduction, but for fun too. In my opinion, people should have sex when they're ready. At the moment, it seems sexual desires are either repressed, or extorted. You've got various Religious-based communities saying you should save yourselves, be pure and sensible, then you've got media outlets saying shag anything that moves and have fun. You can't really win. It's all about society, and at the moment, that's how people are going to live by. |
