[Controversial] FDA bans all flavored cigarettes

Basically, the same reasoning used for putting bigger warning labels on hard cider and lemonade. People figure they don't taste like the "real thing", so they don't treat them the same. Of course, Mike's Hard Lemonade can't compete with Beast or Pabst Blue Ribbon on price, so I'm pretty sure the majority of underage drinking (of non-distilled beverages) is on normal beer.

Banning just flavors? That's dumb. It's just like banning flavored soft drinks and forcing everyone to drink regular.

Either ban them altogether or not.

They were already illegal for kids, like all tobacco products.

They were targeted to kids so that they would start smoking earlier. Most hardcore smokers develop their habit before they're 18. It's a deliberate strategy by tobacco companies to target people they legally aren't allowed to. Just like cartoon advertisements were.

Go ahead and ban the advertisements, but adults obviously like smoking flavored cigarettes or else this thread never would have been created.

I don't know about the OP but one poster is 15 and explicitly states that flavored cigarettes are like smoking candy and he can't stand the taste of regular cigarettes. That's the whole strategy. Get them hooked on nicotine any way you can. Once they're hooked they'll buy anything that contains it.
