Hey little lad, will you spy on Charlie for me?

Town halls hire citizen snoopers as young as SEVEN to spy on neighbours | Mail Online

Children as young as seven are being recruited by councils to act as 'citizen snoopers', the Daily Mail can reveal.

The 'environment volunteers' will report on litter louts, noisy neighbours - and even families putting their rubbish out on the wrong day.

There are currently almost 9,000 people signed up to the schemes. More are likely to be recruited in the coming months.

Controversially, some councils are running 'junior' schemes which are recruiting children.
Just when I think the United States is nipping on the U.K's heels in terms of tyranny, you limeys pull shit like this. ;)

Not nearly as bad as the other stuff going on in the world. They get paid to be a good citizen?

Hey, I'd rather have them focused on their neighbours all day than getting themselves into the shit some of the kids around here do...

Next I suppose England will require papers to move though their cities and replace the Union Jack with the NAZI Swastika.

London's Daily Mail reported (after an investigation under Britain's freedom of information act) that more than half of the local government councils responding admitted that they were using anti-terror laws and surveillance equipment to monitor such mundane activities as whether residents put their garbage out at the proper times for pickup. Said one prominent critic, "We are no longer living in what most would recognize as a free society." [Daily Mail, 11-1-08]
Trust your government, children.

Our government is no better. The fascists are returning. Mussolini I’m sure is having the last laugh. If you can’t corrupt or persuade the current generation other than its mindless dolts that meanderer then target their children. It’s happening already in schools and to many of the younger members here from posts I’ve read since joining on more sober topics.

Isn't this pretty much 1984? Where his annoying coworker's kids are always snooping on people and reporting them to the government.

1984 you mean, by George Orwell. That should be required reading for all students...used to be when I was in Junior High - bet you won't find that book anywhere near a public school today.

Makes me wonder whether or not I'm really being watched, when I feel like I am?

We already have bored OAPs standing outside their houses with hand-held speed cameras, so enlisting child spies seems a logical next step.
